“So boring.” Yvonne rolled her eyes. “Can’t you at least give me a little hope?”
Sean Quinn let out a resigned sigh, watching her with tired patience. “Fine. If the DNA results show Nicole is really your niece, you’ll marry me. Give me a child.”
Yvonne eyed him suspiciously. “You wouldn’t mess with the results, would you?”
Sean’s gaze turned serious, deep as a midnight lake. “Do you honestly think I’d joke about the one thing you care about most?”
Caught off guard, Yvonne wrapped her arms around his neck in a playful, placating hug. “Come on, little brother. You know I didn’t mean it like that.”
Sean didn’t answer, but she could feel the way he tensed, the way she always seemed to have him wrapped around her finger. From the very first day they met, she’d been able to read him like no one else.
…
Tyrone’s apartment.
Alicia lay on her back, fresh from the shower, hugging her stomach as she stared at the ceiling.
Is there really a baby growing inside me?
She’d just checked a parenting app, which said a little spotting was normal when the embryo implanted. So, that day—it wasn’t her period after all. She was pregnant.
A blush crept up her neck, and she dove under the covers, squirming around like a caterpillar.
She really was having a baby.
Tyrone walked out of the bathroom just in time to see Alicia wriggling under the blankets. He chuckled and sat down on the edge of the bed. “I’ve cleared my schedule for the week. I’ll stay home with you, and after that, we’ll go in for the blood test together.”
He wanted to be there for her—he couldn’t relax otherwise.
Things still weren’t calm with Nicole and Jade. Even though Brandon’s company troubles kept Jade in check, Nicole—foolish as ever—was still up to something.
“Really?” Alicia poked her head out from under the covers, eyes wide with delight as she looked up at Tyrone.
