Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 199

At least for this moment, Tyrone was her husband.

Their marriage was never meant to last, but for the little time they had, why should she share him with anyone else? She refused.

People were selfish by nature, and all she wanted was to have Tyrone to herself.

At least while the marriage lasted, she wanted him to be hers alone.

Serena shot Alicia a cold, resentful look. Even if Alicia didn’t mean to provoke her, that’s exactly how it felt to Serena.

Tyrone glanced down at Alicia, surprised to see this sudden possessive side of her.

A slow smile curled on his lips. “Sorry,” he said, voice light, “Alicia and I already made plans to go to the beach today. Maybe another time.”

Serena’s jealousy was so sharp, her nails nearly dug into her own palms. She was losing her mind, eaten up by the way Tyrone looked at Alicia now—his eyes overflowing with warmth.

It was the kind of affection Serena had always craved, but could never reach.

Tyrone and Alicia left, and Serena sat rigid on the sofa, still burning with envy.

“Mom…” Melanie’s voice was tentative. “Uncle Tyrone seems really happy with Alicia. You always said all you wanted was for him to be happy, didn’t you?”

When had Serena changed?

Maybe once, she truly had loved Tyrone selflessly. She’d given him everything without keeping score, telling herself his happiness was enough.

But somewhere along the way, she’d started to feel resentful. She thought she’d sacrificed too much. No woman in the world could love Tyrone more than she did. Everyone else was after something—only she was genuine.

When did she become this desperate, this unrecognizable version of herself?

“Shut up!” Serena snapped, losing all control. Her hand flew out and struck Melanie before she even realized it, her mind blank with anger.

She stood there, breathing hard, staring at Melanie’s tear-filled eyes—regret twisting inside her, but powerless to make it right.

She didn’t even recognize herself anymore.

“Melanie, without your uncle, Mom can’t go on,” Serena rasped, her voice hoarse as she clung to her daughter’s hand, repeating the words like a desperate mantra.
