The old man’s face fell in an instant, unable to contain his anger. “Do you think you have a say here? Who do you think you are? Tyrone, this is all because you’ve spoiled her!”
Alicia huffed and edged behind Tyrone, clearly nervous but forcing herself to speak up. “Then why did you ask me to come? Because you know if I didn’t, Tyrone wouldn’t have come back either.”
“Tyrone, is this how you’ve taught her to speak to her elders?” the old man snapped, his voice shaking with fury.
“You’re my grandfather. You raised me. I owe you a lot, but you never raised her—and you’ve hurt her before. The fact that she’s willing to come back here at all is already more kindness than you deserve,” Tyrone replied, his voice even but cold. “She’s my wife. Of course I’m going to stand by her.”
The old man slammed his fist on the table. “Wonderful! Just wonderful! Tyrone, you’d throw away your own family for a woman?”
Alicia shot back, “You’re the one who turned your back on family first. If you hadn’t started plotting behind our backs, maybe I’d already be a few months pregnant by now.”
He tried to guilt Tyrone, so she threw his own tactics right back at him.
The old man’s face blanched. He waved a trembling hand, barely able to get the words out. “Get out. Both of you. Just get out—”
“As if we’re dying to be here,” Alicia muttered under her breath, voice dripping with disdain. “You call yourself an elder, but you act like a spoiled child. I grew up with nothing—no family, no manners, apparently. But you? You’re supposed to be Harboridge City’s most venerable businessman. Where’s your class?” She grumbled softly, not caring if her words sent him over the edge.
He nearly collapsed from rage.
“Get out! And if you don’t divorce her, Tyrone, don’t ever think about coming back to the Lynch family again!” the old man threatened, voice shaking.
Tyrone nodded calmly. “Alright. Then take care of yourself, Grandpa. I won’t be coming back.”
