Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 673

Chapter 673

Nicole didn't know what to say to Zachary as his words left her somewhat flustered. Fortunately, a man, who seemed to be Zachary's acquaintance, suddenly walked over to his side. They seemed to have something to discuss. Therefore, after a brief chat, Zachary turned to Nicole and said apologetically, "Nicky, I have things to deal with, so I'll be taking my leave now. Let's have a chat after the banquet is over."

She nodded in response.

She turned to look for Colton after Zachary left and found that he was chatting with Douglas. They were probably also talking about business matters, so she sensibly gave them some privacy.

The banquet was held in the downtown hotel, so the food at the banquet was delicious. Hence, she took the opportunity to nibble on the food available by making herself scarce in a quiet corner, enjoying each bite with relish.

...

Meanwhile, Evelyn was released and returned home after being detained for seven days. Although she didn't suffer any harm in detention, she looked dispirited and dejected when she finally returned home.

She sat on the couch, glanced at Siobhan, and hissed through gritted teeth, "Why?! Why are you barring me from going to the F&R's trade fair with Gabriel?!"

Colton would definitely be in attendance. She desperately wanted to see him!

Siobhan furrowed her brow at Evelyn's tone. She had rejected several jobs these past few days because of Evelyn. She did so because she wanted to keep an eye on Evelyn so as to save her from being an utter embarrassment to society.

"You were just released! Just stay put. Haven't you learned your lesson?" Siobhan warned austerely.

Evelyn's eyes began to turn teary at Siobhan's rebuke. Yet, she didn't want to give up! She wanted to go to that banquet! She wanted to see Colton!

"I'll be careful. I just want to see Colton. I won't do anything!" she retorted in displeasure.

Siobhan shook her head and sighed dejectedly when she regarded Evelyn's stubborn demeanor. Evelyn was utterly spoiled rotten.

"No! I said no! Evelyn Wrenn, I will disown you if you step out of this house today!" Siobhan snapped.

Evelyn became even more inconsolable at her mother's harsh tone. She bit her bottom lip and forcefully held back her tears from flowing like geysers as she complained, "Mom, the news about my week-long detention has already spread among my friends. They all think I'm a joke now!"

Siobhan raised her eyes as she glared right at her daughter and continued mercilessly, "A joke? So, you finally realize that you're a joke? You should have thought about this when you did those horrible things!"

"Mom! Nicole set me up, and I was detained for seven days! Don't you want to avenge me?" Evelyn barked in dissatisfaction.

For Evelyn, these seven days felt longer than a lifetime. She was forced to eat that horrible food and sleep on the hard, one-meter-wide bed. She spent every day in detention in resentment and despised Nicole!

She wouldn't have stayed in prison for a week had it not been for Nicole!

"Avenge you?" Siobhan sneered. Then, she scoffed, "How could you ask me to avenge you after what you have done?! If Nicole hadn't forgiven you, you would still be in detention now!"

"No!" Evelyn screamed shrilly, "I would not have been arrested if she hadn't reported me!"

Siobhan couldn't help but sigh when she looked at the pig-headed Evelyn. "Colton would not have ignored you if you had been half as brilliant as Nicole."

Evelyn initially thought that Siobhan would take her side, but she didn't expect her own mother to compare her with Nicole and find her lacking.

Siobhan's words irritated the prideful and haughty Evelyn. She instantly lost her temper as she yelled, "Since you like Nicole so much, why don't you make her your daughter instead?! You've never taken my side and thought about me anyway!"

Evelyn rose to her feet with red-rimmed eyes.
