Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 674

Chapter 674

"Do you know what you're talking about?!" Siobhan furrowed her brows tightly at Evelyn's indignant remarks.

Evelyn dismissed her as she continued screaming, "I'm your daughter, not Nicole! Why are you taking her side?! I know why. It's because I'm stupid, right? Nicole is the best, and I'm the worst!"

She glared at Siobhan with red-rimmed eyes, and her voice was obviously choked up. Finally, she sniffled and continued, "Anyway, you have never liked me even though I'm your daughter, not her!"

With that, she turned around and stormed upstairs.

Siobhan's expression was gloomy after their argument. She never thought that Evelyn had harbored such thoughts about her.

She closed her eyes wearily and leaned against the couch. Her body suffered greatly when she gave birth to Evelyn, and it took a long time for her to recover. Later, she was swamped handling the Gould Family's business and had no time to accompany Evelyn. She had never imagined that Evelyn would end up like this.

A trace of sorrow and pain flashed in her eyes. It was probably because of her neglect that caused Evelyn to become so desperate for love.

...

Nicole attended the F&R Enterprise's trade fair to keep Colton company. In addition, she hoped to meet Whitney and persuade her not to do anything stupid.

Other than that, she wasn't interested in such events. Everyone who was participating seemed like people from the masquerade ball. Each and every one of them wore masks that fit the occasion or the topic of their discussion.

She remained in her quiet corner, but she had a clear sight of Colton as he conversed with others. His attitude changed, and he adapted to the situation quickly. He was like a social butterfly who effortlessly mingled with the crowd.

Just as Nicole tried her best to be a wallflower, a waiter suddenly appeared before her. He leaned closer to her and asked, "Hello, may I know if you are Miss Anderson?"

Nicole instinctively glanced toward the voice and saw that it was merely the waiter for this banquet. She nodded and replied, "Yes, I am. What's the matter?"

She was not very eye-catching among the big shots in the business world, and she was basically like an invisible person in the venue. So, no one was interested in her, nor would they want to waste their precious time bothering her.

"Oh, Mr. Yates requested me to come to you. He wants you to go to the back room," the waiter whispered.

Mr. Yates? Is it Zachary? He can just come to see me. Why is he asking me to go to the back room? Nicole thought skeptically.

The waiter naturally sensed her hesitation and pressed on, "Some bumped into him, and he fell down the stairs. He first asked me to look for another Mr. Yates, but I couldn't find him, so I came to you."

Fell down the stairs?! Nicole became alarmed as her face filled with concern. Zachary must have asked the waiter to get Harvey, but Harvey wasn't fond of such occasions, so he must have sneaked out of the establishment. That was the reason why the waiter could not find him.

"Okay, I'll go with you. Please bring me there." She rose to her feet and quickly instructed. Zachary would not have bothered her if it had been a small matter. Unfortunately, he probably had quite a severe fall.

As she walked with the waiter, she asked, "Is he seriously injured?"

The waiter answered respectfully, "I'm not sure either. It seemed that he couldn't move his leg. I took the medical kit to help him, but it didn't help, which is why I have to trouble you."

Nicole smiled and waved him off. "No, it's no trouble. He's my friend. I should check on him."

They went up the stairs and arrived at a room. She entered the room without hesitation, but as soon as she walked in, she heard someone locking the door behind her.

She was shocked and hastily rushed back to the door. She pushed against the door twice, but the door didn't budge.

D*mn it! I fell for a trap! Again!
