Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 692

Chapter 692

The following afternoon, Colton and the Undercity leader met in an underground casino. He came alone, and the casino wasn't too crowded because it was late afternoon. As soon as he walked in, everyone's eyes were on him because no one else there could compare to his temperament. The casino was filled with the pungent smell of tobacco and alcohol, which wafted into his nostrils as soon as he entered the door. He frowned slightly but continued walking calmly. However, not long after he entered, several burly men stood in his way, glowering at him.

Colton smirked without feeling intimidated. In a cold voice, he uttered, "Bring me to your leader." The burly men surrounded him without moving an inch.

Narrowing his eyes into thin slits, he raised his voice. "What? Is this how you treat your guests?"

The moment he blurted the question, a limp man came out of the room with a cane. He didn't look old; maybe he was in his fifties. His sideburns had turned white, and though he was hunched, Colton could see the muscles hidden under his loose clothes.

This man is pretending to be weak. That was Colton's first impression of him.

"Mr. Gardner, right? Please come in."

Adam lowered his voice and sounded firm. Narrowing his dark orbs, he scanned Colton before retracting his gaze.

Colton followed him and entered the room.

Adam's subordinates intended to enter, but he shooed them away. "I want to have a private chat with Mr. Gardner. You guys can just wait outside."

His subordinates hesitated, but he smiled and added, "Why? Are you afraid Mr. Gardner will bully a senior citizen like me?" Though he sounded friendly, there was a hint of strictness to his tone.

Without further hesitation, his subordinates retreated.

When Adam and Colton were the only ones left in the room, Colton sat on the couch without feeling awkward. His legs were crossed as he glanced at Adam with plain curiosity.

On the other hand, Adam poured Colton a cup of tea politely. "Mr. Gardner, my subordinates were ignorant and thought you were here to stir up trouble. I hope you're not mad at them. Please have some tea."

Colton glanced at the teacup in front of him but did not take it. Raising his head, he looked at the hunched man and uttered with a smile, "Since we're going straight to the point, you don't have to pretend anymore. Why would you act crippled when you're physically fit?"

Adam did not expect that Colton could point out his disguise at a glance. He had been pretending to be crippled for two years, and no one knew about it except his confidants.

Staring at Colton, he couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration. It seemed that Sasha had good taste in men.

"Well, we should always have a Plan B in life. Many people are ambitious and want to climb the ladder, so it's always good to be prepared."

Colton didn't continue the topic but switched the subject to his purpose of coming today. "A few days ago, members of Undercity kidnapped my son, and then they shot and killed the Clancy Family in public. Now, they're attempting to kill me with gunfire. I just want to know if Undercity took over a task, or whether I am an eyesore to you, which is why you want to get rid of me?"

Clasping his fingers together, Colton exuded a terrifying coldness.

Adam knew that Sasha planned all of it out due to her selfish desire, so he smiled and said vaguely, "You should know us, Mr. Gardner. There are certain things that we aren't allowed to disclose."

Colton was not surprised either. Pointing his slender fingers at the table, he smiled. "Of course, I know that, but I hope you understand that if Undercity and Wolf get into a confrontation, you will not benefit from it at all."
