Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 998

Chapter 998 She Tried to Fight Back

At this moment, some scenes appeared involuntarily in his mind.

Colton's heart couldn't help but twinge at the thought of what had happened to Nicole at the time. She had told him in the morning that she was going to keep the baby, but now… she was in the emergency room with her life hanging in the balance.

Having been engaged in fights for years, Roger soon noticed something. Following the signs of struggle with his eyes, he said, "The person was especially skilled in combat. Boss tried to ambush the person, but they subdued her easily."

His words brought Colton to his senses. Turning to look at Roger with a peculiar glint in his dark eyes, he muttered under his breath, "That person's probably the head of Undercity." Seven years were long enough for someone to change noticeably. As he closed his eyes slightly, he couldn't help but recall how meek and quiet Sasha had been back when he was still at college years ago. However, he had also met her previously, and she had indeed changed a lot, though he never thought she would actually be the head of Undercity. "Uh-huh. Those sent by Undercity to fetch her have been brought under control, so she can't run away for long without anyone fetching her. I'll send people to search for her," he said in a low voice.

Roger didn't quite believe the man, though. He grabbed Colton's hand and warned with a ferocious expression, "Colton Gardner! I don't care what happened between you and that woman, but now that she's hurt Boss, those from Lome will never let her get away with it!" He had done a detailed background check on Colton after learning that Nicole was in a relationship with him. Although many details were kept hidden, he found out that Colton had once been in a relationship with a woman, who was none other than Sasha. It was even rumored that Colton had been heartbroken for two years after Sasha's departure, so Roger feared that the man might side with Sasha instead.

Apparently, Colton understood what Roger was implying. He replied in a grave voice, "I won't let go of anyone who's hurt Nicole."

Hearing the man's resounding voice, Roger finally relaxed somewhat. Struggling to suppress the anger within him, he glanced around to learn more about the situation.

The two men searched around the room, but they didn't find anything.

Colton checked the surveillance footage recorded in the hospital. This time, the surveillance footage did capture the culprit, but she had purposely disguised herself so that her face couldn't be seen clearly. One could only judge from her figure that she was a woman.

Seeing Colton's expression, Roger mocked, "If I remember correctly, that Sasha lady once saved you from a gunshot when you were abroad. Just stay out of this if you can't bring yourself to do anything to her!"

Colton's face darkened slightly. Seeing Roger's confrontational demeanor, he didn't speak nicely to him either. "Nicole is my wife, so she doesn't need anyone to poke their nose into her business!"

Just as he had expected, Roger instantly flew into a rage at such words. He said at once, "If you're really prepared to protect her, then bring out your masculinity instead of letting her get hurt!"

"I'll take care of this, so you don't have to worry about it!" Colton retorted while looking at him.

The two men's eyes met as though sparks were going to fly between them. In the end, however, they didn't argue much or say anything else as if recalling something. After checking the surveillance footage, they returned to the hospital.

Those in the emergency room had yet to come out. Anna had also arrived and was sitting outside with Siobhan; Jackson and Gabriel were present, too.

Seeing Colton come back, Anna quickly rose from her seat and walked up to him, asking, "Colton, why would Nicole end up like this all of a sudden?"

Colton hesitated to tell her about it. In the end, seeing the concerned look on her face, he merely said, "I'll find out about this."
