When Adrian was about to have a fit, he heard someone exclaimed, “Oh! Isn't this the famous Lord of the West, Adrian York?”
Adrian and his men turned their heads and saw Maverick smiling, and Adrian was also a little surprised. “Maverick, it's you!”
Maverick laughed. “Yes, it's me! Wow, I didn't know Mr. York would remember me! What an honor!”
It turned out that Adrian was no ordinary man.
The Yorks were the most significant family in the West with hundreds of billions of assets, and their children were involved in business, politics, and the military. Adrian was the immediate successor of his family and was known as the Lord of the West.
Although the Douglas family was considered well off in the West, they were nothing compared to the Yorks, and Adrian was someone that Maverick would need to please.
Maverick asked flatteringly, “Mr. York, are you here for Mr. Goldstein's birthday party too?”
Adrian replied frustratingly, “Yes, I heard that he is the richest man in Brimmopolis. When I knew that today is his birthday, I showed up uninvited to get to know someone powerful like him. But look at these bastards who denied my entry just because I don't have the invitation! Isn't this annoying? I'm known as the Lord of the West— do I even need a stupid invitation wherever I go?”
Maverick nodded his head vigorously. “Yes, these guards don't know any better.”
Adrian grimaced and looked at Maverick. “By the
way, what are you doing here?”
Maverick boastfully took out his invitation. “Well, I'm here for his party!”
When Adrian saw that Maverick had one, his expression became weird, as if he was jealous and aggrieved.
