Zero's eyes glimmered with mischief when the mayor gave him the green light.
It was indisputable that the army had its own ways of dealing with things, and the police force had no right to interfere.
But as the mayor said, they could question Nathan first, cuff him up before sending him over to the military.
After all, it was not like they did not bring the matter to the army. They just did it later.
With the mayor's consent and Clifford's backing, Zero was emboldened to coerce Nathan into cooperating.
Sitting back down again, he took his pen recorder and put up a professional face.
“Nathan, I believe you heard the mayor, so I strongly advise you to do as we ask. Now, state your name, gender, age, and your residence address.”
However, Nathan remained unperturbed. He sat back in his chair, crossed his arms before his chest, and smiled at Arthur. “I know you just want to mess with me. Do you think you can get on Clifford's good side by doing this? Sadly, no. You've messed with the wrong person. You and I are not even on the same level. If you were talking to the old me right now, I wouldn't even spare you a look. The reason why I came today is to warn you that this had better be the last time you step on my toes. Not even Clifford can save you if you keep doing this in the future. I will make sure you regret it.”
Arthur was seething with rage when he heard Nathan. His whole body quivered in a fury, but words failed him. There was nothing he could say
to retaliate.
Arthur knew Nathan was an impudent man, and if he had not known that Nathan was stripped of his position, he would not even meddle with the man.
Arthur thought it would be a good opportunity to teach Nathan a good lesson when he found out that he had committed a crime in his territory, but he did not expect Nathan to be this obnoxious even when he was no longer serving the army.
I can't believe he just shamed me in front of my subordinates!
His blood boiled within him, and Arthur finally decided to retaliate, “If you refuse to work with us at your own will, I can make you do it.” He continued, “Zero, go all out on him and make sure he does as we say. He's a murderer, so let
him know the severity of his crime.”
Zero nodded firmly and gestured the officers around him to take action. “Bring the handcuffs and bind him to the chair.”
A few policemen went over as ordered and put the handcuffs on Nathan.
Just as they thought they could have their way with him, someone kicked the door open, sending a loud bang echoing through the room packed with people.
Everyone jumped at the deafening noise and shifted their bewildered gaze toward the door.
A man with thin almond eyes barged into the room with a few military policemen.
“Who do you think you are? You can't just invite yourself in without my permission!” Arthur
shouted.
The slender-eyed man looked at him coldly. “We're from the Security Department. We're here to escort the General.”
All the policemen in the interrogation room sucked a breath of cold air and stood there motionless.
