They made for home after they left Aegean Hotel.
Penny was still recovering from the shock from what happened earlier on. “You didn't have to kill them, you know? One of them is Clifford's man, and the other is the heir of the Goldstein family. Those two families won't just let this slide.”
Nathan did not share the same concern. “The Goldsteins and the Daviers hate me enough already. Another death won't make any difference. Besides, this is a clear message from me to stay away from you.”
Penny fell into silence. Her heart warmed at her husband's words.
She was the reason why Nathan killed them.
Although Penny was aware of the serious repercussions that might come because of Nathan's seemingly rash actions, Penny still felt touched.
Nathan was even willing to risk his life to protect her. To her, this was the most romantic thing he could do for her.
Penny started tearing up at the thought of what Nathan had done for her. “Hubby, whatever comes our way in the future, I will face it with you, even if it means death. I will stay by your side no matter what.”
Nathan was moved by her words, but on second thought, a frown carved on his brows and he turned toward her.
“I don't mind sharing my burden with you, but why do you keep talking about dying?
Kylie giggled at their interaction and interrupted. “Nathan, do you know how worried Penny was? You went missing in action and everyone was saying you deserted your comrades. Penny was worried sick!”
“Ha, does this mean you guys believed what they said? You guys thought I was a deserter?” Nathan joked.
“Of course not!” Kylie negated.
“Penny was afraid the Daviers did something to you when you were at war. The war had ended so long ago, and yet we heard nothing from you. We went everywhere, but we got no news at all.
How could we not worry?”
