The mere mention of the incident at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor got Freddy to sweat even more.
Naturally, he didn't dare to refute, so he quickly confirmed Nathan's words. “Yes, that's right,” replied Freddy, “What a coincidence. We meet again, Mr. Cross.”
Both Dennis and Glen turned to Freddy in surprise.
They know each other?
Dennis was downright stumped. His eyes had a complicated glow on them when he asked softly, “You know this guy, Director Loran?”
Freddy didn't even bother responding to that.
Instead, he hurried over to Nathan and extended both hands with a smile. The former acted like a subordinate who had just seen his superior and was buttering Nathan up like crazy. “I didn't expect to see you here, Mr. Cross,” said Freddy, “Looks like this is just a misunderstanding between allies.”
Nathan shook Freddy's hand and replied with a skin-deep grin on, “Well, we shared a meal together, Deputy Director Loran, so I guess we can pass as allies. But him? He's not my ally now, is he? Moreover, he just proudly announced that today is the day I die. Aren't you here to destroy me on his behalf?”
No one else knew who Nathan truly was, so no one cared.
Freddy, however, knew that Nathan was with the Chief Military Governor. The former even strongly suspected that Nathan was actually the Chief Military Governor himself. Why else would
General Sage be so respectful and protect the guy to that extent?
Hearing Nathan called him an ally got Freddy so excited that he almost jumped.
He quickly answered, “Yes, you are right. I will definitely deal with the matter beautifully and give you a satisfying response, Mr. Cross. My brother is responsible for the peace in this region, and I will have him settle this issue strictly and without playing any favors.”
Nathan replied calmly, “I look forward to it.”
Freddy turned around. His gaze had turned evil and sharp when he glared at Dennis.
“Dennis Turner, you had better confess everything and tell me the truth about what happened. If you don't, I will have Glen take you to the police station. They have plenty of ways
to get you to talk.”
Dennis was flabbergasted to hear that. He blurted, “Director Loran, a-are you serious?”
Slap!
Freddy slapped Dennis across the face as soon as the latter finished speaking.
Freddy growled angrily, “Do I look like I am joking? Let me warn you about something. This man is my superior, so you better confess all of your crimes now. If you don't, you will not even get a chance to regret your decisions later.”
Director Loran's superior!
Dennis was stunned.
So was Tyranno.
