Nathan already knew Thomas was up to no good the moment he saw him. When he heard that that guy had the audacity to claim that Thomas was his underling, his anger was stoked.
“Mr. Little, I hope you don't mind me asking, but which line of business are you and your family in?” he asked casually.
When Johannes heard Nathan's question, his tone became cold. He was jealous that Nathan got to have the prettiest girl of the lot. “I just came back from abroad, so I'm still learning the ropes over here, but before this, I was in the finance sector in Ariarica. As for my family, we’re an old and established family. We’re actually a powerhouse in the shipping industry, but we've always been low profile. Not many people know about us in Channing except for that few in the upper echelon.”
Nathan smiled courteously. “And you said Thomas Dunn works for you?”
Johannes was alerted, but when he saw the women watching him, waiting for an answer, he cleared his throat and feigned confidence.
“You're quite right. He might look like he commands the whole world outside, but he actually goes at my family's call.”
Nathan was not pleased at all.
Thomas might be his subordinate in the military, but he was a trusted and competent soldier. Nathan would not allow a random stranger to spew nonsense and undermine Thomas' character.
Nathan was piqued, but still, Johannes failed to understand it. He thought Nathan was just shocked by his family's capability.
This made him even smugger. Don't tell me you're afraid.
When the group reached the room Johannes booked, he invited them to sit down and called the waiter over.
After ordering a few dishes, he started a conversation with Kylie, trying his best to spark her curiosity about him, but regardless of how hard he tried, Kylie did not seem interested.
In fact, she seemed like she could not bear his company.
It seemed to him that he preferred talking to Nathan over to him. She would lean toward Nathan and whispered to him, ignoring Johannes.
This further incited his hatred toward Nathan, but he did not get the chance to dwell on his feelings for too long.
The dishes were ready and served.
Johannes was shook the moment he saw the first dish.
Wait, isn't this bluefin tuna? I didn't order this’.This looks like a good 17-pound bluefin tuna!
Johannes was in for a shock. Before he could wrap his head around what was going on, the waiters already served lobsters, abalones, and king crabs on the table.
This is not happening. Something's wrong.
“I'm sorry,” he cried out at the waiter. “There must be something wrong with the order. I didn't order these.”
