Johannes' heart raced. He darted his frantic gaze around the room, thinking of a way to get out.
While he was still thinking of an escape, Nathan spoke.
“There you are, Thomas.”
Thomas?
Johanne s blood ran cold. He almost sprang from his seat.
Why is he referring to him using his first name? I wasn't serious when I said I know ThomaslNathan is gonna get us all killed at this rate! What does he think he's doing?
Johannes' face turned pale as he sensed the gravity of the situation.
The image of Thomas being infuriated when he found out about his lies began to form in Johannes' mind.
Just as he thought Thomas was about to teach Nathan a good lesson, something unexpected occurred.
Not only did Thomas not get angry, but he also went over to Nathan with a sheepish smile on his face after Nathan greeted him. “Mr. Cross! It's really you! Why didn't you tell me you're here in Channing? I would've come to welcome you immediately if I knew!”
Mr. Cross?Welcome him?
Johannes'jaw dropped to the ground with his eyes wide open like saucers as he stared at Nathan.
What the hell is going on?So Nathan is his boss? That man clearly told me he's a soldier!
“Why do I need to tell you? I'm not some old man who needs taking care of,” Nathan joked and then glanced at Johannes.
“By the way, this is Johannes Little. He claims to know you. He even said you work for his family. Do you know him?”
Thomas frowned and followed Nathan's gaze. When he saw Johannes, he shook his head in confusion. “I don't know him, or his family.”
Thomas' gaze hardened as he scrutinized the man. “I don't know what's going on, but you'd better watch your tongue.”
The truth was, Johannes really did spend some time abroad, but he was there to study. Throughout those years, he impersonated different people to take advantage of people, but now that he faced up with Thomas and Nathan, his legs became feeble.
