Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2339

While Mateo continued to glare at Zed in stunned silence, the latter walked over to greet Penny and Nathan, “Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross, I hope the both of you are well.”

Right away, realization dawned upon Mateo. They must hail from a strong background. Even Captain Walker opted to side with them instead of me.

Unable to restrain his anger, Mateo shrieked angrily, “So you all know each other? Were you in cahoots this entire time? You as*holes are all equally despicable. This is unacceptable! I want to raise a complaint against—" “Silence!” Zed retorted with a fierce glower. “I made sure to understand the situation before I arrested you. Not only did your barbaric guards push over innocent bystanders, you even tried to humiliate Mrs. Cross. You were the one who triggered the fight against Mr. Cross. Am I wrong?”

Mateo's previously pale face quickly flushed red with fury. Nevertheless, he held his tongue.

Zed snorted. “Take him away.”

Following Zed's orders, the policemen escorted Mateo to the car.

At the same time, more police cars arrived at the scene to escort Mateo's bodyguards. While some were sent to the hospital to receive treatment for their injuries, others were detained and brought to the station.

Moreover, Zed dispersed the curious horde of reporters and onlookers gathered around the scene.

Once the last of the crowds vanished, he finally turned toward Nathan with an apologetic look. “Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross, please accept my sincerest apologies. This incident happened because I didn't carry out my job properly. Once I return, I will take the necessary steps to improve the city's public security,” Zed said respectfully.

Nathan merely nodded. “It's not entirely your fault. After all, the trouble came from Yorksland.”

Zed smiled bitterly. “Truthfully, most of Yorksland's celebrities are patriotic and noble citizens. Yet, there exists a handful of jerks who think highly of themselves. Although they scorn our country, they still come here in search of wealth.”

“Don't let Mateo off the hook so easily. You will have to punish him according to the law. Let him serve as a lesson to the other people from Yorksland who wish to follow in his footsteps.”

Zed nodded in acknowledgment.

Mateo's fate was sealed the moment Nathan gave the order.

Since public crimes like these could range in severity, culprits of minor offenses were usually released after a handful of days. On the other hand, criminals with more serious offenses would be put behind bars for at least five years.

Considering Mateo’s actions, he would spend many years of his life in jail.

Suddenly, Zed thought of something and asked Nathan, “Mr. Cross, earlier, the reporters took several pictures of you and Mateo. I'm afraid that they might publish it tomorrow. Although this incident was Mateo's fault, people might misunderstand. Should I instruct them to delete the images? It might tarnish your reputation.”

Nathan merely smiled. “There's no need for that. Don't worry; the pictures won't be published.”
