With that, Max turned to regard his allies and subordinates with a riotous roar, “Who is there amongst you with the guts to step into the fray and kill this fool for me?”
By “fool”, he was, of course, referring to Destroyer.
A bunch of fighters from the Ariarica military and the other eight nations then started to whisper among themselves, and up stepped two from Xyperia simultaneously, ahead of the many who were still in the midst of mulling over it.
“Left General to Lord Ashuras of Xyperia, Soma.”
“Right General to Lord Ashuras of Xyperia, Kali.”
“We shall challenge you at the same time.”
Soma and Kali trained under the same master in their youth and, later on, signed on with the military together. When they served under the banner of Xyperia, they had always gone into battle side by side.
Hence, the duo had developed tremendous chemistry over time, enhancing each other's fighting prowess whenever they joined forces.
While denizens of Eurasia considered themselves the descendants of the Dragon, those of Xyperia thought themselves the descendants of the Elephant.
Xyperia, as a nation, had always regarded Eurasia as a hated rival, and this sentiment was especially prevalent among members of the former's military; each and every one of them dreamt of the day that they may represent their country in the defeat of Eurasia.
That widely held view within Xyperia's army was also known as
“The Draconem and Proboscidean Complex”.
It was precisely that reason which led Soma and Kali to jump at the opportunity to challenge Destroyer while others remained apprehensive.
The fighters behind Nathan were collectively angered when they saw Soma and Kali throw their own names into the mix at the same time.
“Shameless pucks. They don't seem to grasp what constitutes a fair fight.”
Fang, too, spoke up, “Do you think you could pick on us for not bringing help?”
“Allow me to aid you in setting these two pucks straight, Destroyer,” said Hcptakill outright.
Destroyer had faced the Xyperian army during the majority of his campaign against the North Army back in the day.
He had been aware for some time now about the resurgence of these people from Ashuras' faction, the most belligerent elements in their nation, and had long wanted to teach this insolent and bellicose lot from Xyperia a lesson. By stepping to the fore, Soma and Kali were simply offering themselves up on a platter! Hence, he rejected Fang and Heptakill's offers of assistance, chuckling, “The Chief Military Governor's challenge was to take on the representatives from the Nine-Nations one on one. Seeing that it's just going to be these two puny pucks, I'll have no problems dealing with them without any help.”
That got the members of the press as well as people from the Nine-Nation Alliance who were present in an uproar.
