At Penny's angered shout, the Smiths' heads swiveled to look at her.
Contrary to how friendly and warm he looked days ago when he had sold the land to her, Sean's face was now cold and indifferent.
In a casual tone, he said, "Penny, how could you not greet your elders upon meeting them? Losing your temper like a child, how disrespectful!”
Enraged, Penny accused, "Grandpa, you clearly know that the plot of land at Phoenix could not be used, so why did you sell it to me? Aren't you setting me up by doing this?"
"Why can't it be used? I don't know anything about that," Sean replied with a shrug.
"That land is an ecological reserve and can't be developed. Don't tell me none of you know about this."
Blinking his eyes, the old man answered, "Oh, really? I honestly don't know anything
about that."
Penny was completely speechless at how despicable and shameless they were being. Even now, they insisted on not knowing the truth about that plot of land.
Taking in a deep breath, she struggled to contain her fury. Forcing as much calm into her voice as she could, she stated, "Grandpa, since that land cannot be developed, I wish to formally cancel the deal we made. We'll return the land to you and you refund our company. How does that sound?"
In an instant, Sean's expression darkened. "A deal's a deal. There's no room for regrets now."
"But the land...”
He cut her off, "That's your problem. I was only responsible for selling you the land, I never made any guarantee that it was a development land."
Tears sprung to Penny's eyes as she cried in desperation, "Grandpa, you deliberately
tricked me!"
Fed up with playing coy, he sneered as he answered, "So what if I did? Business is business. There can be no personal feelings involved, not even consideration for family. Besides, I've never really been fond of you.
"I wanted some of your company's shares, yet you kept refusing me. What's wrong with me tricking you then? If you're so indignant about it, you can try and sue me. However, I can assure you that you'll not win a court case against me. Hahaha!"
