Smiling, Nathan extended an arm. “It's been a while, Ms. Catherine,” he greeted while shaking the woman's hand.
To everyone's surprise, the Duchess, who was always known as an ice queen, responded indignantly, “Indeed, it has. I've tried relentlessly to invite you to come over on behalf of my country ever since you became president. It's just a shame you were so busy that you never responded until now. Gosh, it sure is hard just to see you!”
The crowd exchanged glances with one another, wondering why Catherine sounded like an aggrieved woman who had finally gotten to meet her unfaithful lover.
Despite feeling a little sheepish deep down, Nathan appeared nonchalant and maintained a smile. “I hope we can strengthen our countries’ ties through this upcoming interview. My nation has decided to set aside its prejudices with the hope that we can get along better with yours.”
Eagleland was a member of the Eight-Nation Alliance and also a loyal ally of Ariarica.
The former had engaged in many decisions at Eurasia's expense, and the relationship between the two countries hadn't been ideal in recent years as a result.
By saying that, Nathan had not only managed to dissolve the awkwardness that had arisen from Catherine's words, but he had also accurately pointed out the existing conflict between both their countries. At the same time, he was implying that if Eagleland didn’t wish to become enemies with Eurasia, it would be best not to side with Ariarica blindly.
Catherine had certainly gotten the hint, and various thoughts crossed her mind.
Nathan had a regular exchange with the royal family that day.
He then headed to the Eurasian embassy in Eagleland.
When night fell, the man rejected the royal family's invitation to a party and instead opted to have dinner with Eurasia's ambassador to Eagleland, Carlos Knight.
Carlos had never expected to have such an opportunity, and he was understandably thrilled.
He reported to Nathan about everything he had done here in Eagleland over dinner.
Having the latter acknowledge all his efforts made him especially delighted.
After dinner, Nathan was considering taking a stroll along the streets of Eagleland and enjoying the view with Penny.
