Nathan, Penny, and the other members of her family were having dinner together at the table.
“Have you all gotten used to life in Brimmopolis yet?” Nathan asked.
“Everyone here shows us tons of respect, and life here has been really great for us! It's just that... Well, we kind of miss our old home...” Benson replied.
As if scolding him for saying something he shouldn't have, Leah tugged at the hem of his shirt immediately after hearing that.
My son-in-law is both the Chief Military Governor and the president of the country! He is carrying a huge burden on his shoulders, so we shouldn't mention anything depressing like missing home! He's so busy that he doesn't have time to visit our hometown anyway. Besides, he might even think we're unhappy with our life in Brimmopolis! We wouldn't want to add to his burdens now!
Nathan chuckled when he saw that. “It's normal to miss home when you're away. I miss my home in Channing too. How about we head over to Channing tomorrow? We could stay for a few days and visit our relatives there.”
Benson was thrilled when he heard that but also felt uneasy about troubling him. “But you're a very busy man, Nathan. If you head back to Channing, you'll...”
“Yeah, my dad was just casually bringing it up. Don't take his words to heart, Hubby!” Penny added.
“Actually, there's been some trouble over at Daragon Island lately. Even though I have Zach watching over the South, I can't help but feel a little worried. If I stay in Channing for a few days, I'll be able to take action immediately should anything happen to Daragon Island,” Nathan said.
Since Nathan had mentioned that it was also for work purposes, they decided to go along with his suggestion and head over to Channing together.
The next day, Nathan and the others took a flight back to Channing.
In order to keep a low profile, Nathan brought only Colin, Ava, and Sevan with him on this trip.
Nathan also kept his trip a secret from the citizens of Channing, as he didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to himself while on vacation.
It wasn't long before their plane landed in Channing.
Nathan looked particularly handsome as he stepped out of the airport in a black suit with his family following closely behind.
Penny had on a fashionable beige shirt that concealed her tummy and added an air of elegance to her overall appearance.
Naturally, the two of them attracted quite a lot of attention from passers-by.
A group of men dressed in suits happened to step out of the airport at the same time.
The one leading the group was a man in his late twenties. He looked devilish yet sophisticated with his wavy hair and rimless glasses.
His eyes lit up when he saw Penny, and he had a look of shock written all over his face.
“Wow! I didn't know such a pretty woman existed in this country!” the man said as he walked up to Nathan and Penny with his hands in his pockets.
A few seconds later, a Rolls-Royce and dozens of Maybachs pulled up in front of him.
An old man in his sixties and twenty men in suits got out of those cars and bowed as they greeted him in unison, “Welcome back, Mr. Zarnowski!”
As it turned out, Sloan was the son of Wylder Zarnowski, the wealthiest man in Channing. He had just returned from studying abroad.
The old man in his sixties was Wylder's brother as well as Sloan's uncle, Cristiano Zarnowski. He had come to pick Sloan up from the airport that day.
“I'm here to pick you up, Sloan. What are you looking at?” Cristiano asked with a chuckle when he saw Sloan staring into the distance.
“The direction in which a gorgeous woman has just headed,” Sloan replied nonchalantly.
“What gorgeous woman?” Cristiano asked curiously.
Sloan let out a chuckle. “An absolute beauty. I fell for her the moment I laid eyes on her, so I tried to flirt with her in hopes of getting to know her better.”
“Did she say no?” Cristiano asked.
“Her husband did,” Sloan replied.
