Instead of giving an answer, Garon said angrily, “Who are you? How dare you come here and create trouble? Arrest him.”
Having said that, he took out his sword and launched the first attack on Max.
The others did not fall behind. All of them also took out their weapons and charged forward.
Max snorted. “You're just mere ordinary people. The audacity of you to attack me!”
He lifted his hand and broke Garon's sword into pieces.
Subsequently, he reached out his right hand and grabbed Garon's neck, then lifted him off the floor.
Garon's eyes dilated, and he struggled by thrashing around.
The people who were there with him yelled angrily and darted forward, wanting to save him.
Max, despite having only one free hand, raised his leg and swung at them.
Swoosh!
He left afterimages behind and managed to kick the heads of some of the church warriors.
All of them were sent flying away from the impact. When they dropped to the ground, they were all dead.
There was a hint of a cold smile in Max's eyes. He looked up at Garon upon noticing that the latter's struggles had gradually weakened. Eventually, Garon died after being choked to death by Max.
“Argh!”
At that moment, the sound of a woman's scream could be heard.
It was Hepburn. While still in her pajamas, she had come out to investigate after hearing the sounds of a fight. When she saw Garon and the others had been brutally killed, she could not help but scream out loud.
The remaining two bodyguards standing next to her blanched as well.
The evil monster with a clown mask has terrifying strength. He managed to kill Captain Garon and the others so easily. But there's only the two of us here. We're no match for him.
Max saw Hepburn and easily recognized her as the Holy Maiden.
He threw the corpse that he was holding casually to the side and took big strides toward Hepburn.
Hepburn and the remaining two bodyguards were scared silly. They merely stood rooted to the spot and even forgot to run away.
Just then, two figures showed up in a flash and stood in front of Hepburn.
They were none other than the two bishops, Kevan and Tyland.
With a grim expression, Kevan said, “The man has a faint nasty smell of a vampire. He must be a vampire king.”
