Max saw that a large group of human elites had arrived as support and knew that the situation was dire.
It was impossible to kill Nathan tonight, and if he didn't escape now, he would be stuck here forever.
He quickly turned to Lux and said in a loud voice, “Prince Lux, Your Highness, the situation is not good, and we must retreat. You should leave first. I'll cover the rear.”
With that, Max shot toward Nathan as if he was going to make a last stand, giving Lux time to escape. Lux had always disliked Max, but he was moved by his willingness to stay behind and cover his escape without any hesitation in this life-and-death moment, and his opinion of Max improved greatly.
“Let's go together!” Lux growled as he also rushed toward Nathan, wanting to help Max drive the latter back and escape together.
However, Max had already started fighting Nathan.
Max pretended to cover the rear, but in reality, he was just using this opportunity to escape.
He had no intention of fighting Nathan to the death.
He punched Nathan, but at the moment of impact, he used the force and momentum to fly backward and turn around to run away...
The person who claimed to be covering the rear was the first to run away.
This action not only made Nathan frown but also shocked Lux.
Max had used a trick to escape as soon as possible.
The War Gods around them saw and immediately chased after him while Lux was in an unfortunate situation.
Max had escaped right under Nathan's nose.
Nathan was now furious, and he turned his anger toward Lux, staring coldly at him.
The battle around them was coming to an end.
Lux was angry and replied, “When I allied with Max just now, it's not that we couldn't beat you. It was just an issue of timing. If it weren't for your allies arriving, you might have been dead by now. Even in a one-on-one fight, you may not be my match.”
Nathan said, “If you want a one-on-one fight, I'll grant you that. I've always tried to accommodate the wishes of those on their deathbed.”
Lux was furious and said, “Good, I want to see which of us will die first.”
He then charged toward Nathan, wielding a red cross sword and exuding a murderous aura.
Nathan raised The Unsullied and engaged in a fierce battle with Lux.
The Curia and the War Gods from a hundred nations looked at each other, unsure if they should intervene.
Hepburn couldn't help but ask, “Should we help?”
Leopold shook his head and said, “Mr. Cross is willing to have a one-on-one fight with Lux, so he must be very confident. Let's not interfere with their duel for now and see how it plays out.”
