In fact, Nathan regretted his decision the moment he decided to let Blossom tag along.
He was worried that she would be unable to keep up and become a burden and affect their mission.
However, Blossom surprised him. She was not as weak as he had imagined. Despite struggling to keep up with them, she did not complain and followed behind with clenched teeth.
It had been an hour since they continued their journey.
All of a sudden, Nathan stopped in his steps.
Seeing Nathan had stopped, Blossom thought they were finally having a break. She almost collapsed on the ground, exhausted.
On the other hand, Colin whispered, “What's wrong, Mr. Cross?”
Sevan also noticed something was off as he looked around the area suspiciously.
Nathan calmly replied, “We were in such haste to leave that we accidentally entered someone else's trap.”
A trap!
Blossom, about to sit down and rest, widened her eyes in shock and instinctively gripped her weapon.
Colin and Sevan frowned.
Colin lowered his voice and asked, “Is it the vampires?”
Nathan answered calmly, “Who else, if not for them? I can already smell the unique scent of blood from their bodies wafting through the air.”
Blossom stared at Nathan in shock.
I don't smell anything at all. Is this mysterious general that powerful?
Nathan noticed the strange look on Blossom's face and tried to comfort her, “Don't worry. There aren't too many of them. Maybe about a dozen.”
Just then, about a dozen figures appeared around them.
He wanted to wait for Nathan to move closer toward the best ambush site before making a move.
However, he was surprised to see Nathan and his companions stopping halfway after sensing something strange.
Auburn no longer had any patience to wait and immediately brought his subordinates to appear before the group.
In his eyes, Nathan and his companions were regular bounty hunters. If ambushing them was impossible, he would appear before them and murder them.
“Haha. I didn't expect humans like you to be so cunning. You were able to smell danger and did not dare to continue forward. Even so, you won't be able to escape death tonight,” Auburn said haughtily as he stroked his mustache that curled upward at the ends.
Blossom widened her eyes in fear when she noticed the signature curled-up mustache above Auburn's lips. She staggered and almost fell as she stammered, “Y-You're Auburn, the famous vampire marquis of this area.”
Auburn and the other vampire aristocrats were surprised by Blossom's words.
Auburn bore an amused smile as he said, “Haha. That's unexpected. I didn't think you would know who I was. Since you recognize me, I promise to leave your body intact. But unfortunately, the rest of those guys won't meet the same fate.”
Auburn's gaze shifted toward Nathan and the others.
