Nathan said calmly, “My advice to you, Wolfric, is to not interfere in Wallera's affairs anymore.”
Wolfric's expression darkened when he heard that. Just as he was on the verge of losing his temper, Nathan continued, “But in exchange, I won't oppose your claims in other parts of the vampire-occupied territory.”
As soon as Wolfric heard that, the anger on his face disappeared instantly, replaced by a thoughtful expression.
Indeed! The vampire-occupied territory is vast, encompassing countless small nations and tribes that were destroyed. Now, all these places need to be rebuilt. All Nathan did was take Wallera. There are still plenty of areas in the territory left.
If Wolfric was unwilling to let Nathan take Wallera and continued to cause trouble for him, the latter would also sabotage his claims in the other areas.
When that happened, they would all have a hard time.
Besides, compared to Wallera, which Nathan took, the other areas of the vampire-occupied territory are much larger.
Nathan smiled at Wolfric, who was still hesitating in his decision. “What do you think of my suggestion?” he asked.
Wolfric lifted his head and stared at Nathan coldly. “Although your suggestion seems good at first glance, I may not necessarily accept it. This is Adrune. We are not pleased to see you establishing any influence here, no matter how insignificant it may be. Besides, if I directly agreed to your terms, others might think that we were forced to accept your existence and submit to you!”
Nathan calmly replied, “So what you're implying is, you want to fight till the end, making life difficult for everyone.”
Wolfric could not help but feel a wave of fear rise within him as he met Nathan's deep, icy gaze.
He quickly clarified, “I don't mean that you and I are going to fight to the bitter end. I'm saying that this matter is between Princess Dido and Prince Senna. Let's just let them settle it themselves.”
“What are you getting at?” Nathan asked.
Wolfric raised a finger. “A duel for the ownership of Wallera. Let the two of them each choose a warrior to represent them, and have a duel. The victor shall become the true ruler of Wallera. What do you say?”
Wolfric had just left when the phone on Nathan's table started ringing.
He picked up the phone, and Dido's anxious voice rang out. “Mr. Cross, it's me. Things have taken a turn for the worse. Wolfric has somehow found a man named Senna, who claimed to be my father's illegitimate son. Using the title of Prince of Wallera and with the backing of powerful nations like Ariarica, Senna intends to contest me for the throne of Wallera. What should we do?”
“I was just about to talk to you about this,” Nathan responded.
He then recounting the decision he and Wolfric had just made.
“If I don't agree to his duel conditions, I'm afraid that after I return to Eurasia, Wolfric and these Adrunian War Gods will join forces to make things difficult for you. So, I think that you can give it a shot. If you win the duel, it will shut them up. At the very least, they won't dare to openly trouble you in the future,” Nathan reasoned.
Since Senna had the support of Adrunian War Gods like Wolfric, Dido could only rely on Nathan at this point, so she replied, “I'll follow your arrangements, Mr. Cross.”
