Max entered the room with the confidence of a host, unhurried and at ease. He pulled out a chair and sat down, pouring himself a cup of coffee. After taking a sip, he spoke leisurely.
“I've come tonight to bring you some incredibly good news. Don't you think that's what friends are for?”
Lucius and the others exchanged glances, each filled with uncertainty and surprise.
In a deep voice, Lucius asked, “Who are you, and what are you trying to say?”
Lola asked, “That's right. What exactly is this great news that you claim to bring?”
Max said with a grin, “If I told you I was going to give you half of the Divine Realm, would you consider that great news?”
Lucius scoffed, “How dare someone who doesn't even show their face speak so audaciously.”
Mentzer declared, “I will reveal his true face.”
After saying that, Mentzer suddenly made his move, lunging at Max like a flash of lightning and engaging him in combat.
Max faced the battle with composure. Although his strength was inferior to Mentzer's, it would be somewhat challenging for Mentzer to defeat him quickly.
Upon seeing this mysterious person who could actually fight toe to toe with Mentzer, Lucius and his companions couldn't help but feel astonished.
Seeing that his opponent was not unveiling his cloak, Mentzer grew furious.
On the brink of his rage, he was about to switch to combat form when Max raised his hand and said, “Wait. If you want to see who I really am, I'll reveal it myself.”
After saying that, he lifted his hand to pull back his hood, revealing himself.
Max said, “Calm down. I came tonight to bring you good news. The God King is actually gravely injured. If you attack him now, his defeat is certain.”
At first, Lucius was taken aback, then he scoffed, “You must be joking!”
Max stated earnestly, “I'm not joking. I'm serious. During his fierce battle with Medille, he sustained severe injuries. Despite this, he fought relentlessly until the war ended, then fell into a coma. It was only after several days that he finally awoke. When he woke up, his injuries were still far from healed. He relied entirely on drinking Gods' blood to suppress his wounds and give you a show of force. Only then was he able to intimidate the four of you. If you take him on for real, his defeat is certain.”
Lucius and the others were somewhat skeptical.
Lucius glared at Max. “What are you trying to gain by revealing Nathan's secrets to us? How can we trust your words without understanding your motives?”
Max said coldly, “Nathan has always been wary of me. He would get me to do the dirty and tedious work of slaughtering Gods, the kind of work that earns people's resentment. Even Queen Hepburn doesn't trust me! In their eyes, I was nothing more than a rabid dog they have raised, trained solely to attack on command and never to see a day of true glory.”
At that point, Max looked at Lucius and the others, his voice deep and serious. “If you're willing to cooperate with me, we can join forces to take down Nathan. Once we seize the Divine Realm, we can split it equally among us. What do you think?”
