As Nathan continued to sit calmly in his chair, one could vaguely see the smirk he was trying to hide.
Smiling at Darius, he requested, "Darius, you came at the right time. Someone accused me of impersonating the General of the North. Please help me to clear my name."
When Darius and his soldiers heard Nathan, they were both shocked and angry. Who had the gall to doubt the General's identity?
Turning around, Darius scanned the crowd and declared, "Ladies and gentlemen, I have here the commander-in-chief of the three hundred thousand troops of the North, General Nathan Cross!"
"Who among you disrespected the General just now?"
The crowd subconsciously turned to look at Xander.
Meanwhile, Xander's face was pale as a ghost. At that moment, he was so
overwhelmed by remorse that he felt he would be better off dead.
Seeing Xander, Darius sharpened his gaze and sneered, "It's you, the Lane Family again!"
"Xander, not only were you rude to the General, but you also even gathered all your men outside. Are you planning to ambush the General?"
Xander felt a bitter taste in his mouth as he stammered, "I..."
Darius coldly cut him off, "I don't want to listen to your excuses. I will leave it to the General to decide on how to deal with you."
The crowd now shifted their attention to Nathan.
The way they looked at Nathan had already evolved from one of mockery to one filled with fear and respect.
Those who had supported Xander and bad-mouthed Nathan were all feeling the heat now. Their hearts pounded in nervousness and remorse as they were afraid that the General would punish them as revenge.
There were also some who looked at Nathan with admiration, especially Kylie. Staring at him with pride, she thought to herself: All of you now know that my brother-in-law is the General!
As Kylie gleefully kept that thought in mind, she shifted her gaze to Penny.
She felt that it was a pity that Penny was drunk. Or else, she would be proud to see how impressive Nathan was right now.
Meanwhile, Kylie wondered what sort of expression Penny would have when she found out about his identity.
While everyone stared at Nathan, Nathan was looking at Xander instead. He quipped with a smile, "I'm sure you no longer have any doubts about my identity, am I right?"
