Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 89

Wraith bowed his head and said softly, "It's not about the money. I've mentioned you as well. However, Ms. Quinn has a performance right now, therefore she can't come here."

Displeased, Felix said, "Who is this person? How dare he refuse to release Quinn when I want her to come here and perform?"

Wraith whispered, "Sir, Quinn is playing at this dinner party that is attended by the Mayor and the rest of the leaders..."

Felix felt embarrassed immediately. Even though he was from the prestigious Logan family, he was really nothing compared to the Mayor of Channing.

There was no way he had the ability to make Quinn leave that party and play for him here.

Feeling embarrassed and a little disappointed, he said, "I see, so she is playing for the Mayor and the other leaders in the city. That's too bad. What a disappointment! Let's invite her another

time then."

Everyone felt a little disappointed as they thought they would be treated to a magnificent performance by a piano maestro but it turned out to be a major letdown.

Penny was one of them. She knew that Quinn was overseas most of the time and now that she had missed the opportunity to listen to Quinn's live performance, she did not know when she would ever have the chance to do so.

Sensing her disappointment, Nathan suddenly smiled and said, "Penn, if you really want to see the pianist's performance, then I'll give her a call and she will come here and perform for you."

Felix, Wraith, Lulu, Siegfried, and John, together with everyone else was stunned when they heard what Nathan said. Then, they began to burst out in snorts of laughter.

For goodness sake! Even Mr. Felix could not convince Quinn to come here, so how could

Nathan Cross, an unemployed bum, get her away from the mayor and the rest of the leaders then?

Felix and the gang sneered while John directly jeered at him. "Hoho, have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately? Even Mr. Felix failed to invite Quinn, why are you, a useless bum, boasting that you can do it?"

This was not the first time John insulted Nathan. However, Nathan had just regarded him as a mere clown and had never been bothered with him.
