Chapter 25
“What is going on?” I ask
them.
“We have to go.” Colt repeats getting up. He grabs my arm and gets me to my feet.
Dash and the pack member pick up all the bags from the
floor and we start to walk in
the direction of the
elevators.
pull on his hand. “Colt, you need to tell me what is going
on.”
His face is stoic and it won’t
tell me anything. I see him look back at the men and
then he starts walking faster.
When we reach the elevator,
Dash and the pack member go in first. Colt pushes the closing button but steps out of the elevator with me.
“Leave.” He tells Dash. “They saw me. If we don’t make it
back, tell my father not to do
anything rash. I will find my way back.”
Dash gives him a nod with a
worried expression as the
door closes.
“Colt!” I say with urgency.
“No time, Cass. Come on. I’ll
explain on the way.”
He goes to the side of the
elevators where there is a
door that leads to the stairs.
The stairs are two–way, up and down. He starts leading me down.
“Colt! Who are they?!” I
shout.
“Those are men from the
Dark Fang pack.” He finally
responds.
“What? Why are they here?!”
“I don’t know. But like us,
they have property here too so I can only assume that is why they are here.”
“But we have many of our
own pack here with us. So why are you so scared?”
“Because, If Victor is here,
then that means that Warrik
is also somewhere here in
the city.”
As he says this—even though we are a few floors down
now–we hear the door that
we came from, open.
Colt puts a finger across his
lips telling me to be quiet. He then picks me up and
starts dashing down the
stairs trying not to make any
noise.
“I swear I saw him. I think
they went through here.” A
man’s voice echoes.
“You sure it was him?”
Another asks.
“I think so.”
Soon, Colt reaches the
bottom floor where there is
only one door left after all
the other ones we passed.
He carefully opens it and
rushes through it.
We are at the parking garage. Colt puts me down and takes my hand.
“What now?”
A car passes by us with more speed than it should be having in here. It startles us
but it keeps going.
“Cass, listen.” He kneels
behind a car and makes me kneel too. “If we get caught,
call me Alexis. If Warrik ever
finds out that I am my
father’s son. The next in line
to be Alpha of the Blood
River Pack, he would kill
me.”
“O…kay…”
I am scared now because he
doesn’t look okay. He looks
scared and desperate. He
starts moving behind the
cars as he pulls me with him.
Call him Alexis? So they
don’t know who he really is?
“Uhm…Skye never told Warrick who you are?” I ask.
“No, he’d kill her too just for being part of the pack but even more so because she
was my mate and she knows
this.”
Wow.
We continue our way that
leads down. It is a spiral indoor garage.
He suddenly lifts himself up
and smells the air but
immediately hides back.
“Damn it! There are more of
them up ahead.”
I look back with the hopes that we can go back the way we came from but in the distance I immediately see
those men coming out of the
door.
“They are here,” I whisper.
“Shit. They are going to catch my scent if they didn’t already.”
He stops, still kneeling down but now faces me. Looking at me with concern, he puts his
hands on my shoulder.
“Cass…you have to play
along. There is no way of
getting out of this.”
“Play along?”
He closes his eyes. “F**k, I should have told you
everything.”
“Is it…is it bad?” I ask. “Is
what you have to tell
me…bad?”
He looks at me with
intensity. Then he pulls me
in and k*sses me. There is so
much passion and
desperation at the same time
behind this k*ss.
He puts a hand on my chin as he finishes the k*ss, then,
pulls back and looks into my eyes. “All you need to
remember is that…I…I…L-…..I
care about you. Okay?
Everything I am doing now
is all for you…even…..if I seem
like the bad guy.”
“What? The bad guy? Why-”
Before I can ask anything, he pulls me up with him and
walks right to the middle of the garage.
The men immediately spot
“Play along,” Colt whispers to
“Beck…Victor. Where is he?”
Colt asks the men.
“Look at what the mother
f**king cat dragged
in…Victor.”
The Victor guy has shoulder–length dark curly hair and dark eyes. He is tall
and is clearly an Alpha. That
much I can see. The other
one might be too but I can’t completely tell. The Beck guy is also tall but he has a
buzz cut. He is tanned and
also has dark eyes. Unlike the
Victor guy, this man has a
few scars.
“Beck, where is Alpha
Warrick?” Colt asks.
“We’ve been looking for you,
motherf**ker. Where are the
others?” Beck asks. The
Victor guy is quiet.
“We were attacked, Beck.
Some were killed and some
of us were taken prisoners.
The others didn’t make it.”
“Hu? You were attacked, yet here you are looking like a
million bucks. You don’t look
so bad to me.”
“I don’t have time for this
shit, Beck. Take me to him.”
Colt barks.
“Now why would I do that?”
“And what else are you going to do?” Colt takes a step flexing his chest and
deltoids.
Beck’s smirk falls and he
looks displeased.
“Exactly. Nothing.” Colt says. “I was just able to escape a few days ago and ended up
here. That’s when I sensed
him. I know he is here.”
“You don’t get to see my father just because you say so.” Vicor finally speaks.
“Well, he’s going to want to see me. I have something for
him.” Colt looks at me after
saying this.
I am about to start panicking
but then I remember that he
told me to play along. I know he doesn’t mean to give me to this Alpha. But the
question is, how do I play
this? Do I act angry?
Nervous?
I am not an actress
goddammit!
I don’t do a single thing and I
definitely don’t move a
single muscle.
“Who is she?” Beck asks.
Colt looks at him defiantly. “None of your business. Now take me to the Alpha. He is
going to want to hear this.”
Victor stares at him and then
at me as if he is trying to
decide what to do.
“Take them to my father. Let him deal with them directly.”
He finally says.
Beck looks unhappy by this
but nods. “This way.”
He goes past us. Colt turns
and follows him. He looks
calm and composed but I know he is just acting. A minute ago he was the complete opposite. Now he
acts as if nothing was wrong.
I turn and try to do the same. Since he is not trying to drag
me with him, I assume I
don’t have to act scared but I
We follow Beck with Victor
and the others behind us
until Beck stops in front of a
black car.
“Get in.”
Colt holds the door for me
and I go inside. I slide all the
way to the end but then the door next to me opens. I
scoot away and Victor sits
next to me. On the other
side, Colt slides in and sits on
my side and then Beck sits
on his. Both of these new
men block the doors. The
car is one of those that has a
black window that opens up to see the driver and it does just that. It opens.
“Back to the Alpha,” Beck says to the driver.
I want to scream. I am so
scared. We are in so much
trouble.
The next thirty minutes are quiet and filled with tension.
The car stops in front of a
tall building. It looks just as
luxurious as the one we
