Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 1707

Chapter 1707

“Don’t yell at Duncan, Charmaine.

He doesn’t mean it.” Mrs. Lewis pulled Charmine outside the room.

“Don’t criticize him.

Duncan has it hard enough.” Charmaine answered, “I know Duncan is in low spirits, but so are we.

We are concerned about him and his health.

He gave up on himself before the doctor did.

“You can’t continue to enable him, Corey.

We must get him back on his feet.” Corey had been beating herself up and stayed by Duncan’s side to nurse him since his accident.

Charmaine could understand where Corey was coming from.

All they could do was visit and deliver food to the hospital every day.

Sometimes, Duncan would refuse to see them when they came around.

Since Charmaine’s husband assumed the leadership role of the Lewises family business, he was swamped with work every day while fretting over Duncan’s injury.

However, Duncan was too caught up in his sorrow to care about his family’s feelings.

Mrs. Lewis’s eyes welled up.

She choked with sobs.

“I want him to get back on his feet too, but he won’t listen to us.

He lies in bed all day, and any slight movement kicks the pain in his legs to overdrive.

It’s normal that he’s agitated.

It’s not his fault.

It’s not his fault...” “Corey.” Charmaine handed her mother-in-law a tissue and sighed.

“TI don’t blame him.

I’m just getting to get some sense into him.” Mrs. Lewis wiped her tears away and said, “I spoke with Liberty, asking her to come and take care of Duncan so he could snap out of it.

Duncan likes her so much.

I think Duncan will pull himself together for her.” “1 thought Duncan didn't want to see her.” Liberty had dropped by the hospital every day since Duncan’s accident.

Nevertheless, she was turned away every time.

Duncan went so far as to deploy his rarely used bodyguards to keep watch at his door 24/7 in the hospital to keep Liberty out.

The others, who turned up around the same time, were shut out too.

“We just have to keep trying.” Mrs. Lewis dried her tears once more.
