Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2268

Since Liberty had the ambition to establish a chain of restaurants across the country, she needed to have her own signature dishes.

Hence, Liberty needed to dedicate herself to learning and push forward with determination while Duncan would have her back all the way.

Liberty soon left Duncan’s office and once she was gone, Duncan quickly finished his breakfast.

A full stomach improved the mood.

Duncan grabbed his phone to call his best buddy. He said to Zachary, “Liberty just delivered breakfast to me. She told me about the villa. Just take the payment since Liberty is insisting on buying the place. At least then she would feel right to accept the property. Buying a house with her own money gives her a sense of ownership and belonging. However, living in someone else's house can make her feel like she’ll always be a guest.”

Zachary held the phone in one hand while twirling his pen in the other, chuckling. “I expected you to tell me not to accept Liberty's money, or that you would pay instead.”

“I would have been happy to pay for her, but she wouldn't let me. There's nothing I can do about it. She's the love of my life, and I have to respect her wishes.”

“I don’t want to accept the money because the villa is a gift from me and Seren. We’re at a loss for what to do as Liberty won’t take the property, so we’ve been stuck in this limbo for a while now. It’s my first time gifting a house, but it hasn’t been successful.”

Duncan said with a smile, “I know, right? That’s just who she is, but whatever it takes to get her to move, I’m all for it. I don’t feel comfortable with her staying in the current apartment anymore. She met a drunk man last night who had searched for her all night. The drunk man must have his eye on her. Who knows what could happen in the future? I might die of a heart attack if anything were to happen to her or Sonny. For their safety, you should sell her the villa in The Oasis.”

Now Zachary had the full picture.

“Oh, so you called me because you were worried about the competition. You used to call me and Josh out for prioritizing our women before buddies, but you’re no better. You hadn’t contacted me or Josh for a long time, and the one time you’re calling me now is for Liberty.”

Duncan was lost for words.

A while later, Duncan chuckled and replied, “We’re best friends. I’m just learning from you and Josh. I’ll feel out of place if I don’t follow suit.”
