Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2318

Not feeling awkward at all, Marcus retracted his hand.

He sat back in his seat with composure, but his eyes did not break contact with Caroline.

Celine smiled and said, “Caroline, Dad chose Marcus for you. You should try and get along with Marcus. Although the Wrights aren’t super rich and powerful, their assets are worth at least a few million dollars.

“Marcus’s parents don’t mind their son taking our family’s name. You know it’s hard to find a man to take the wife’s family name. Dad immediately thought of you when Marcus was happy to compromise. See how good Dad is to you.”

Celine was gloating.

The Fishers encouraged Celine to pursue Hayden. Although Celine had not made much progress, her family demonstrated their support for her to marry into wealth and power. Yet, Hunter found a mediocre husband for Caroline.

Sure, the Wrights were worth several millions, and to an ordinary family, the Wrights were wealthy. However, they were considered poor to the rich and powerful like the Fishers.

The difference in treatment put Celine in a good mood. She no longer felt resentful of Madam Fishers’ recent criticisms. Her adoptive parents had her best interest in mind.

It made sense since Celine grew up in the Fisher family. She was well-loved by her adoptive parents and brothers. She was supposed to be raised as the successor of the family.

Caroline had only been back with the family for a little over a year and had nothing on her.

Emma chimed in and praised, “Caroline, Marcus is a good man. Although The Wrights don’t have as much influence and power as us, you must still find a husband to marry into the family since you’re going to take over the household.

“Marcus is right for you. We know you are close to Mr. Queen, but he’s not someone you should go after. He’s a brilliant man, and he won’t take our family name or marry you.

“Besides, Marcus said that he’ll help you run the house like Hunter does if you’re happy to go out with him.”
