Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2487

At the Newman villa, Camryn went downstairs and sat on the sofa in the hall after Carrie was scared off by the dogs.

Callum poured her a glass of water. She thanked him and put down the glass instead of drinking it.

He went to prepare a fruit platter and plated some of Camryn’s favorite snacks and the various pastries that he personally made for her.

He then served the food on the coffee table.

Callum sat down next to Camryn and said, “Eat something.”

“I’m not hungry.”

Callum smiled gently. “Have some snacks. It’ll make you feel better.”

“I’m in a good mood.”

Callum caressed Camryn’s face and tapped her delicate nose. “Come on. This isn’t the first day we’ve met. I know you’re not in a good mood.”

Camryn leaned on Callum’s shoulder and said, “I’m six years older than Carrie. When she was born, my mother was mean to me, but I was still happy to have a little sister.

“Carrie was actually very cute when she was a baby. I loved her very much, but I felt disheartened every time I saw my mother’s love for Carrie and her disgust toward me.

“I didn’t understand why my mother did this to me, but I later found out that she didn’t love my father and was forced to marry him because of her family.

“She had no feelings for my father, so she didn’t like me as well. She hated me so much that she didn’t care about my well-being and took pleasure in torturing me.

“Before I knew how to hide my capabilities and bide my time, I lived a miserable life. That was when I found out my father had died at their hands. The only happy memory was when Aunt Evelyn came to visit. I would be able to eat, dress, and sleep well with her around. I didn’t have to do chores.

“But Aunt Evelyn lived far away and only came to visit once or twice a year. Every time she came back, she only stayed for three to five days. She didn’t get along well with them and was the closest to my dad. She would also give me an allowance and buy me delicious food and new clothes.

“As soon as she left, my mother would take away everything she gave me, and I would return to the old way of life. Carrie has witnessed my mother’s attitude toward me since she was a child, so she never thought of me as her sister.”
