Tania did not close the door. She said, “I was in a bit of a funk, but I’m fine now.”
“Did something happen?” Serenity asked in concern.
Tania first asked, “Do you want some water?”
“I’m fine, thank you.”
Tania then walked over to her and pulled Serenity to sit down with her on the sofa as she said, “It’s nothing big. I just exchanged a few words with Liam about Austin and got so angry I just walked off in the heat of the moment.”
Serenity paused for a moment and said, “Does that mean he doesn’t know that you’re here?”
Tania was a little embarrassed as she said, “I haven’t told him yet. I told Sam not to tell him yet either because I wanted space to calm down.”
“He must be super worried. What’s up with Austin though?” Serenity asked, worried too.
Immediately, she continued, “You’d better text Dad first and tell him you’re with us so that he doesn’t go looking for you everywhere.”
Tania pursed her lips before saying, “I’ve been here for a few hours now and he hasn’t come to look for me, so he might not even be concerned about me at all.”
After a pause, she continued in a small voice, “But I sneaked out, so he might not even know that I left the house and assumed that I locked myself in my room.”
There was no way her husband would not come looking for her considering how much he cared about her.
Thus, Tania texted her husband to tell him she was with their eldest son.
He sent quite a few texts in reply and she read them but did not respond.
After seeing Tania text Liam, Serenity asked curiously, “What’s up with Austin, then?”
“Mom, I think Dad’s right too. Just let Austin do what he wants. His career has been stable for a long time now. I think it’ll be good for him to do something he likes.”
Of the nine York grandsons, the eldest three, who were also the eldest sons of their respective family units, carried the heaviest burdens.
Who told them to be born the eldest?
They had to step up to be the pillars of the family.
From the fourth oldest, Dylan York, onward, if they did not join the family company or help manage a family business, they would take a sum of money to start their own business.
Austin had not only helped manage a family business but had also started his own. He loved cooking but his business was not in the food and beverage industry, which might have been a source of wistfulness for him.
Now, he wanted to become a chef and show off his culinary skills. Serenity thought that this was fine.
