Taking advantage of the inattention of the people surrounding them, Duncan pulled Liberty’s hand to his lips, kissing the back of her hand before dropping another kiss on her palm.
Liberty quickly withdrew her hand, a hot flush on her face.
It was dark in the movie theater and no one was looking at her, so no one saw her sudden blush.
“Duncan, be serious,” she whispered in admonishment.
Duncan was a rugged man who was also the bold type.
When he flirted with her, he could easily make her blush.
Before him, she was just like a young girl.
Serenity said that her sister was experiencing her second youth.
Duncan chuckled. “Alright, alright. I’ll be serious. It’s not like I actually did anything.
“Liberty, in the future, when you want to relax, just let me know. It doesn’t matter if it’s to go shopping, watch a movie, or go traveling—no matter how busy I am, I’ll drop everything right away to go to you.
“Work is important, but your happiness is more important.
“It’s not like I need the money. I earned so much money in the past that I couldn’t spend it all even if I tried. Work is just a way to pass the time and earn a bit of pocket money.
“Yours and Sonny’s happiness is the most important thing to me.”
Liberty could not help but comment, “What you call pocket money is an amount normal people wouldn’t even be able to earn in their whole lifetime. Duncan, I seriously suspect you’re just showing off right now.”
She had opened a breakfast diner and a restaurant. As business was good, she earned quite a lot of profit each month. Setting aside comparisons to anyone else, even the profit she earned from her food businesses could not compare to a single percent of what Duncan earned.
Sigh—comparison truly was the thief of joy.
She had to work super hard and get up at the crack of dawn to earn that much, let alone ordinary workers.
Of course, Duncan had managed to earn so much thanks to the hard work he had put in in the early years.
He had struggled in the business world for over a decade before getting to where he was today.
Duncan chuckled, “Once you reach a certain level of wealth, however much money you earn just looks like a series of numbers to you.
