Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 3064

The secretary did not say anything and left.

As long as Mr. Fletcher was around, Caroline would not need her. He alone was equivalent to ten of her.

Darren took off his jacket and was about to place it on Caroline’s shoulders.

However, she stopped him and said, “I’m not cold.

“Wear it yourself. It’s freezing at this hour. I’m not a child. I know I have to wear more clothes when it’s cold.

“It wasn’t cold inside. It’s cold out here, and you aren’t wearing much.”

Darren insisted on putting the jacket on Caroline, but she stopped him again.

“There’s really no need, Mr. Fletcher. Wear it. Don’t catch a cold yourself.”

Seeing that she refused his jacket, he had no choice but to wear it himself.

Then, he escorted her back to his car.

Suddenly, Caroline said, “Can you go on a walk with me, Mr. Fletcher? My head feels a little fuzzy now. I want to sober up by walking in the cold air.”

Darren stopped. He looked toward her and said, “You’re too tired. You’ve been working from morning till night without much rest in between every day. Even a strong, healthy person won’t be able to take it.

“You’re not even resting despite it being the weekend.”

Darren sounded worried.

While most people could rest during the weekends, the young lady of the Fishers was still hard at work.

Being the successor was not easy, especially for Caroline, who was not raised by her biological parents nor received any training.

The path was exceptionally arduous for her.

Some people were also targeting her position.

Doing business and earning money made her days fulfilled and happy.

When she had free time, she would invite her friends to go shopping, have some coffee, or go on spontaneous trips.

However, ever since she returned to the Fisher family, her schedule was always packed. She had to study, train, socialize, and also defend herself from people around her. She had also cut off all contact with her old friends.

Caroline did not want them to be dragged down if something were to happen to her.

It was best if she explained everything to them and broke off their friendship.

She did not care if any of her friends could not understand her or blamed her for being cruel. Everything she did was for their own good anyway.

Caroline knew that it would not be an easy path back when Celine remained in the family despite her return.

Therefore, she felt relieved that she had cut off all ties with her old friends.

Her enemies would not be able to use them to threaten her.
