Serenity brought the fruits into the kitchen to wash them.

After offering a seat to Imogen, Jasmine asked, “Do you prefer coffee or tea, Imogen?”

Since Imogen had called her Jas, Jasmine decided to call her by her name as well.

“Just water will do. Thank you, Jas. I drank a cup of coffee at Seren’s place. I can’t take more caffeine. If I do, I might not be able to sleep tonight.”

Jasmine said, “I haven’t drunk coffee in months. I miss the days when I had a cup per day. I’m also the type who can’t fall asleep after drinking too much coffee. I usually have one cup when I arrive at the bookstore, and it’s enough to keep me awake till evening and not affect my sleep at night.”

She brought Imogen a glass of water.

“How many days are you intending to stay in Wiltspoon?”

Jasmine bookmarked her unfinished read with a dog ear and kept it away. She would continue reading it in her free time.

“I’m leaving in two days. Things are busy at the company.”

“Everyone’s busy at the end of the year. Our bookstore will be closed temporarily next week and reopen after the winter holiday. We’ve been busy these days because students are buying study materials to read over the vacation.”

Most schools would assign homework to the students and have them buy the books from the bookstore themselves.

On the other hand, some schools would buy the books and distribute them to the students. That way, the students did not have to purchase the books themselves.

“You’ll only be busy for a few days. It’s still quite manageable because you can take a break when the students are on vacation.”

Imogen added, “I’ll look around and see if I can open a bookstore somewhere in Huntington when I get back. After I retire, I’ll just spend my time at the bookstore.”

She had a few commercial lots under her name. She could choose the biggest one and turn it into a bookstore. Aside from renting out books, she could turn a corner of the store into a cafe. That way, customers could enjoy a cup of coffee while reading. She thought days like that would be really relaxing.
