Chapter 114
Susan quickly replied, [Scarlen, remember that you are my sister whom I have seen grow up, and my relative. If you discover any clues, you must inform me; otherwise, all these years of my devotedness to you will be for naught.]
Scarlett smiled upon seeing the sentence, knowing that Susan had her back and wouldn’t fault her for being imprudent. She replied. “Okay, I’ll heed Sister Susan’s advice. Then she sent a goodnight emoji, luing up the phone, and drifted off to sleep peacefully
The next afternoon, she was woken up by more than a dozen phone calls. In a daze, she took out her phone from under the pillow.
“Miss Sales, are you awake?”
Upon hearing Dev’s clear and pleasant voice, Scarlett found it difficult to open her eyes.
“Mr. Gatsby, what’s the matter?”
“Are you feeling better?”
Scarlett responded with a Hmmm.
Dey was a bit disheartened upon seeing her so apathetic, yet he quickly adapted his attitude.
“Miss Sales, Gatsby Group is hosting a celebratory dinner this evening. Would you be my date?”
Scarlett was taken aback for a moment and without a second thought, she declined, “No, I don’t want to go.”
After being turned down by her, Dev was not mad. Instead, he softly said, ‘Let’s just pretend you’re here to look after me, alright”
Scarlett said jokingly, “Mr. Gatsby, Phylo’s got you covered. So why do you need me to go?”
Dey spoke kindly. “Phylo made a slight error and I forced him back to the capital”
Scarlett thought that Dey would come back to the capital after taking part in the bidding, yet she was taken aback to find. that not only did he not depart, but he also sent his assistant away.
Her beautiful eyebrows gradually furrowed. “Mr. Gatsby, aren’t you heading back to the city?”
Upon hearing her query. Dev’s disappointment deepened. Do you truly wish for me to return to the capital?”
Scarlett wanted him to go back quickly, so she wouldn’t have to keep entertaining him.
She did not want to spend her last bit of time on Dev, she wanted to make the most of it.
She refrained from saying it out loud, and had nothing to say to Dev.
Dey noticed her silence and understood what was on her mind.
He smiled wryly and said, “I’ll return after the celebratory dinner.”
He pleaded with Scarlett, “Would you join me for the celebration dinner tonight?”
Upon hearing that he was returning after the celebratory dinner, Scarlett agreed.
She got up, took some medicine, changed into a set of loose clothes, applied makeup to her pale face, and then descended the stairs.
When Dey saw her coming out of the elevator, he quickly opened the car door and walked towards her; he had already parked the car downstairs.
He took the bag from her hand in a gentlemanly manner and, with a courteous gesture, opened the passenger door for her. Scarlett felt a little uncomfortable upon being faced with his consideration, but she kept her silence, pursing her lips as she
sat in the car.
After fastening her seat belt, she glanced up at the window of the car and spotted a Bugatti parked nearby.
Upon seeing this model of car, Scarlett’s thoughts immediately turned to Sebastian.
