Chapter 129
Lanny pushing a pile of instruments into the room, found that Sebastian had already left.
Feeling embarrassed at seeing Lanny applying medicine and transfusion to her, Scarlett was very uncomfortable.
Lanny, meanwhile, gave her a meaningful smile.
“Miss Sales is so lucky.”
Lanny was implying that Sebastian was distinct from the rest.
But out of pity, this little difference should be disregarded.
Having been together for five years, even the most indifferent person would care about her when they suddenly discovered she had a heart disease.
Lanny, not knowing what Scarlett was thinking, used tape to stick the needle on her back and then handed her a few boxes of medicine.
“Miss Sales is fortunate and blessed. I recently procured a supply of medication for advanced heart deterioration from
overseas.
“Although this batch of medicine won’t stop the clock, it can help you find some relief from the pain…”
Scarlett’s heart warmed upon seeing the boxes of medicine.
Even though Lanny acted contrary to Sebastian’s instructions, she remained a doctor.
She took the medicine, softly saying ‘thank you‘ and smiling at Lanny.
Lanny smiled in response and wished her a good rest, before turning and walking out with the medicine box in her hand.
Sebastian sat on the sofa outside, juggling business on several work mobile phones and computers simultaneously.
He was obviously busy, yet he remained at home and did not budge, evidently for the ailing beauty in the room.
To Lanny, the sickly beauty was of utmost importance.
After Sebastian hung up the video conference, she walked over.
“Mr. Jackman, Miss Sales still requires some rest. I will be punctual in administering the liquid transfusion during this time.” Sebastian, without looking at her, merely nodded indifferently, his thoughts a little weary.
He assumed Lanny would depart right after giving her report, yet he observed her lingering, seemingly uncertain of what to
say.
He creased his handsome, bushy eyebrows and inquired in a soft tone, “Is there anything else?”
Lanny paused for a few moments before voicing the query in her mind, “Mr. Jackman, do you hold Miss Sales in high regard?”
Lanny thought it was unfair of Mr. Jackman to be so caring towards Scarlett while helping her conceal her illness.
Sebastian raised his cold eyes and gave Lanny a cold glance upon hearing this.
Upon receiving this line of sight, Lanny suddenly realized she had said something wrong. Before she could open her mouth to apologize, he spoke.
“To me, she is nothing more than a living doll.”
His answer indicated that his concern for Scarlett was confined to this.
Upon hearing this, Lanny was momentarily taken aback..
She had thought that, given his eagerness to take her to the hospital and then back home for treatment, he must have had feelings for her.
She had not anticipated that Miss Sales’s care for him was restricted to physical needs.
This must be why he had raised her for five years.
Upon hearing that she was a substitute, Lanny surmised that she was the woman Sebastian had raised.
Having followed Sebastian for many years, she was well aware that he had raised a woman, yet she had never laid eyes on her.
