As she laughed, her respiratory tract suddenly constricted and she began to cough violently. Pink blood foam quickly filled her oxygen mask 

“Scarlett!” 

Dev’s face paled as he quickly knelt down and pressed the bell to call the doctor. He grabbed a tissue and opened the oxygen mask, catching the blood phlegm she had coughed out. 

Dev trembled as the tissue and his fingers were stained with blood. 

He raised his other hand, wanting to help her wipe away the blood at the corner of her mouth, but the more he wiped, the more blood came out… 

The blood flowed down her cheeks and rolled down, wetting her clothes and the pillow. 

Pieces of dazzling red pierced his heart, causing him to tremble uncontrollably. 

When the nurse heard the bell ring, the attending doctor and the director immediately came over. 

Upon seeing Scarlett coughing so severely, Lanny immediately instructed the doctor to rush her to the emergency room. 

The people in the ward rushed in, panic-stricken, and then hastily retreated. Dev, however, remained kneeling. 

The world seemed to have gone silent, leaving only him. He stared at his hands, covered in blood, in disbelief…

Something dropped onto the back of his hand, quickly soaking up the blood that was beginning to congeal. When Susan returned, upon seeing Dev in that state, her resentment towards him gradually faded away. 

If not for the five-year separation they were forced into, she would have realized how deeply he loved Scarlett and they would have been able to live out their lives in peace. 

However, fate was ever-shifting. Not only did the heavens prevent them from reuniting, but they also cruelly snatched away 

Scarlett’s life…. 

Upon thinking of this, she broke into tears, yet she managed to stand and give Dev a comforting pat on the shoulder. 

“Let’s go to the emergency room and wait for her…” 

Before she entered the ward, the nurse told her that Scarlett had been sent to the emergency room due to a sudden cough. When she saw Dev kneeling motionless on the ground, she halted her original intention to run toward the emergency room. Dey acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing, averting his gaze to the pair of bloody hands he had been staring at 

Sighing deeply, knowing he could not face the truth, Susan turned and walked towards the emergency room. 

The lights in the emergency room were blazing, signaling that they were in the midst of emergency treatment. She had no idea if Scarlett could make it through this. 

She leaned against the wall and crouched in the corner, staring at the door. 

Only when the emergency light turned green did she respond and stand up straight. 

Lanny emerged from the emergency room, accompanied by a group of doctors in white coats, the door slowly closing 

behind them. 

When she saw Susan whose eyes were completely red, Lanny suddenly did not know what to say. 

“D-Dr. Lanny, Scarlett… How is she?”
