Chapter 42
No one had ever dared to sever any of his fingers throughout his life!
He had been careless and, in his haste to amend the contract with Jackman Group, had neglected to bring his bodyguards along.
Otherwise, he would have been able to fight the other party, but now, he was all alone.
No matter what his goal was, this man was sure to take revenge once he could escape.
James thought he could still escape, even though the man wanted him to die there.
The man raised his chin, and the bodyguard behind James instantly responded by raising his foot and kicking James’ knee.
Without warning, he dropped to his knees, hands on the floor, and humbly knelt before the man in a gesture of deep contrition.
Angrily raising his head, gnashing his teeth, and roaring at the man in front of him, the great humiliation he had suffered made him not care about anything.
“Bastard, how dare you treat me like this? When I go back, I will definitely kill you!”
“Ah-
The man sneered and ceased talking nonsense with him. He then grabbed the knife, sliced his wrist, and severed the tendons in his hand!
Amid James’ anguished shriek, the man brandished the knife, descended from the midst of the crowd, and split his mouth in
two!
He swiftly cut open his thigh and used considerable force to clearly expose the bones beneath.
Without batting an eye, the man did all of this.
His eyes were always cold and calm as if he were handling raw meat when dealing with James!
“You kissed her, hugged her, and let her sit on your thigh. This is the punishment you deserve!”
James fainted repeatedly from the pain, his mouth opening and closing soundlessly as he tried to speak.
Upon seeing that he was crippled, the man discarded the knife in his hand, accepted the handkerchief offered by the bodyguard, and gently wiped the blood from his hand.
“Sir, it’s time to go.”
Stepping forward, the bodyguard who had cut off James’ finger reminded him.
The man gave a slight nod, not even glancing at James, before departing.
The dozens of off-road vehicles then retreated.
James, already having fainted from the pain, was unceremoniously thrown to the ground, with no one paying him any heed.
Scarlett waited at the hotel all night long, yet James never showed up.
She persisted until three in the morning but was so exhausted that she eventually fell asleep.
When she awoke, it was already afternoon of the following day.
Scarlett’s eyes snapped open and she thought of the bidding meeting. She leaped out of bed.
She was about to leave the hotel when her phone suddenly vibrated, so she hastily packed up.
She opened it swiftly and glanced at the contents; it was a message from Mr. Yea.
“Watch the news.”
What news?
What news exactly?
Just as she was puzzled, he tossed another link over.
The headline was that Forrest Group’s CEO, James, had been injured last night.
Next came the news that the exposure of romantic scandals involving Forrest Group caused their stock to plummet overnight.
