Chapter 60
Scarlett saw that he was alienated from her, so she didn’t attempt to be brave; instead, she lay down and allowed her dizziness to subside.
The doctor had cautioned her previously not to become overly fatigued.
Despite having been tortured by Mr. Yea for two days, she came to the company to work before she had a chance to rest properly.
Even ordinary people would feel tired after going back and forth between the airport, restaurant, and hotel, for her, it would be even more exhausting
She had worked herself too hard, which caused her illness to recur repeatedly.
Scarlett wanted to wait until the next day to get Scarlee to approve her resignation. Over the ensuing days, she had to remain quietly at home and await her demuse.
If her illness had broken out like today and no one had come to save her, she would have certainly died suddenly. Who would have come to collect her body then?
While she was lost in her thoughts, a man in a white suit walked in from outside.
The person was highly polished and immaculate, with an aura of gentle refinement emanating from his entire being. Upon seeing Scarlett lying on the bed, a smile curved his lips.
As his smile spread out, two deep dimples appeared on both sides of his cheeks.
“It’s a woman?”
Yan walked over with the medicine box and gave Dev a look. “Once in a blue moon””
“Don’t kid around. Hurry up and see if anything is wrong with her body.”
He saw her faint twice today, which was not indicative of low blood sugar.
Only then did Yan put away his sloppy attitude, taking out the stethoscope from the medicine box and wanting to listen to Scarlett’s heart.
However, Scarlett raised her hand to stop him. “I have a heart condition. It’s just a sudden ailment. It’s nothing too serious.” She couldn’t keep it from the doctor, so she just confessed.
She didn’t want Dey to diagnose her, as she didn’t want him to know her heart was failing.
She feared that, upon discovering at. Dev would kick her again.
She hadn’t had the time to say goodbye to Susan, so she couldn’t pass away without doing so,
Yan, being a doctor, had the ability to tell instantly if the patient was not being truthful.
He quietly looked at her swollen lower limbs, a symptom of late-stage heart disease
At only twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, it was a pity that this woman was so young.
Since the patient refused to let him treat her, he did not attempt to force her. He put away the stethoscope and turned his gaze to Dev.
“Dev, did you do something wrong to the girl? She wouldn’t let me examine her.”
Rather than exposing Scarlett, Yan pretended not to know and playfully teased Dev.
Scarlett was impressed by his action.
When he glanced at her legs, he clearly noticed something, yet he chose to keep it to himself.
It was evident that the doctor was highly professional,
Scarlett was relieved.
Yet, Dey remained fixated on the two words “heart condition” that Scarlett uttered. He seemed to be instinctively responsive to these and felt uneasy when he heard them.
Noticing his frown and despondent expression, Yan approached him, cupped his hand over his mouth, and murmured in his ear. “Who is she?”
“A friend.”
Coming back to his senses, Dev looked at Scarlett and gently replied.
“Just a friend?”
