Millie hummed in response as she gathered her hair up and secured it with her sunglasses. Her exquisitely beautiful face was simply too striking. 

Just as she was about to order the dishes, a thought suddenly crossed her mind. She asked Winston, “Are you paying for this meal, ex–husband?” 

With one hand pressed to his forehead, Winston answered, “Yes.” 

So, Millie didn’t hesitate to order every signature dish on the menu. 

“Choose something,” she uttered while sliding the menu toward Winston, 

Winston was looking at his phone and replied indifferently, “Didn’t you say you were going to order from the kids‘ menu for me?” 

“I was joking,” Millie answered with a grin. 

Winston glanced at her. “I’m fine with anything.” 

With that, Millie selected a few non–spicy dishes for him and placed the order. Throughout the wait for their food, Winston remained engrossed in his phone. 

Sitting across from him, Millie kept her eyes fixed on him. Perhaps her gaze was so intense that it caused Winston to lift his head, his eyes showing a hint of confusion. 

Millie picked up her cup and took a sip of coffee. She felt that this day hadn’t been as sorrowful as she had expected. 

She had once thought that she would be devastated if she divorced Winston. But now, that wasn’t the 

case. 

In contrast, Millie felt relieved. She even found that not being a couple made their interactions more relaxed. 

“Are you sad that we’re divorced?” Millie couldn’t stop herself from asking. 

Winston stared at her, then pressed his lips together. “No.” 

Millie fell silent. A moment later, she broke into a smile. She had expected his answer. But for some reason, hearing him say it out loud fell oddly heartless. 

“I don’t seem to be as upset as I imagined too,” Millie said seriously as she looked into Winston’s eyes. 

Winston lowered his gaze and gripped his cup tightly. “It’s because you’ve long fallen out of love with me, Ms. Caldwell.” 

“Indeed, the best way to move on from someone is to fall in love with another person,” Millie responded, a faint smile playing on her lips. 

Upon hearing what she said, Winston felt inexplicably irritated. 

“Winston, I used to be so foolish,” Millie remarked. She propped her chin with both hands, stared intently at Winston, and added, “I thought I’d die if left you.” 

Yet, he merely scoffed in response.

Right then, the private room door swung open, and the waiter began serving their dishes. 

“Ms. Caldwell, you’ve always been carefree and never let yourself be disadvantaged,” Winston replied indifferently. 

Millie took another sip of her coffee and said sarcastically, “Being married to you has been a huge loss for 

me.” 

Winston didn’t utter a single word. He stared at the dishes covered with red chili peppers, feeling his stomach churn with discomfort. Were these even edible? 

“To tell you the truth, I like spicy food,” Millie murmured. 

Winston took a sip of water. “I’m not so sure about that.” After all, Millie always cooked non–spicy dishes. 

She immediately countered, “That’s because you have a sensitive stomach, so I always make healthy dishes.“,
