Chapter 255
Millie looked into Winston’s eyes. Initially, she wanted to tell him that she no longer had the courage to swim because she had saved him.
However, upon hearing his response, she chuckled wryly and swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue.
Millie lowered her head and ate in silence, choosing not to say anything more. The dishes were truly spicy. Winston observed her. He sensed that she had something to say, yet she chose to stay quiet.
Right then, his phone rang suddenly. As soon as he saw the caller ID, he immediately rejected the call.
But with each rejection, she promptly called back. After rejecting it several times, Winston finally set his phone to silent.
Millie couldn’t help but glance at him again. Then, she recalled the news she had seen on her phone when she went to retrieve her ID card.
“Joanna was left alone in the rain on the highway last night.”
Millie didn’t intend to gossip. She was simply passing the time, so she casually asked, “Did you and Joanna fight?”
“Yes,” Winston calmly replied.
“Don’t be so harsh all the time. After all, Joanna is just a woman,” Millie remarked lightly.
Winston gazed at her and asked, “Are you teaching me how to date someone?”
“Oh, no.” Millie waved her hand before taking a sip of water.
“I already know who leaked the news of our divorce to the media,” Winston uttered in an icy tone.
Millie nodded. “I know too.”
“You know?” Winston was surprised to hear that.
Millie blinked repeatedly. “Mr. Greer, you’re not the only one with connections.”
If her investigation into such a trivial matter yielded no result, how could she be worthy of being the great

Winston fell silent for a moment before nodding lightly. “That’s true. The Caldwell family is quite capable.”
“But your affair has stirred up some trouble for my family. If my father bears a grudge against you because of this, I hope you can be more understanding Mr. Greer.”
Millie suddenly recalled the matter. Though the Caldwells were influential, they still couldn’t compare to the Greer family.
Over the years, Terrence used his position as father–in–law to treat Winston with disdain. Now that they were divorced, if Winston were to go after the Caldwells, they wouldn’t be able to withstand it.
“Do I look like I’m that kind of person?” Winston asked Millie.
Millie looked up at him. As soon as their gazes met, she chuckled, “I don’t know.”

Her answer caught Winston off guard. What did she mean by that?
Millie’s head hung low as she muttered, “I used to think I understood you well. But over the years, I realized I don’t know you at all.
“Anyway, regardless of how our relationship turns out or how my family treats you, Winston, you have to promise me, you’ll never target them.”
After saying that, Millie raised her head to look at him.
Winston locked eyes with her. It seemed like, to her, he was a despicable person.
“I’ll never harm your family. Now or ever,” he promised.
Millie nodded, and she finally heaved a sigh of relief.
“Don’t hesitate to reach out to me if your family ever needs my help in the future,” he calmly added.
Millie smiled faintly in response.
