Chapter 291
When Millie struggled to come up with an answer, she and Hazel suddenly heard the sound of a vase crashing onto the floor. The loud scream of a woman sliced through the air.
Winston immediately yanked the room door open and was greeted by a fruit knife sailing across the air. The knife landed by his feet.
He entered the room and saw Joanna sitting on the bed with messy hair, her eyes red from crying. She appeared to be on the brink of a breakdown.
Her crying intensified the moment she saw him. She was completely finished! Not only did Winston refuse to acknowledge her, but she also lost her career, which was once the source of her pride.
What could she do?
Winston frowned worriedly at Joanna’s deteriorating health. If this went on, she would definitely suffer serious health problems.
He picked up the stuff scattered across the floor, only for Joanna to continue throwing things around. He went on with the endless task and placed the items back on the bedside table until Joanna èxhausted herself.
She stopped throwing things around and just wept.
He approached her with mixed feelings and stroked her hair to offer comfort. However, she cried even harder as she hugged him. He was the only one who could offer her a sense of security.
It was at that moment she noticed Millie entering the room. Triggered, she yelled at Millie, “Get out! Get
out of here!”
Next, Joanna flung herself into Winston’s arms. “Win, she’s here to hurt me! She’s going to kill me!”
When Winston turned around and saw Millie, he reminded her, “Millie, please leave for now.”
He sounded like a stranger.
Joanna clutched his shirt tightly while repeating. “She’s going to destroy me, Win. Did you know?
“First, she pretended to be a ghost to scare me. Then, she threatened to leak the news of my fake Snowdrop gift to the public. After that, she claimed my qualifications are fabricated…” Her tone grew. agitated.
She grabbed his arm and said, “Win, she did that to me because you’re mine. She wanted to ruin me because she lost you to me.”
She spoke in a determined and logical manner.
Winston warned Millie again, “Millie!”
Millie raised an eyebrow and addressed Joanna, “Joanna, have a good rest. The Greers have never liked the idea of you marrying into their family. If they found out that you have gone mad… Hah…”
She smirked after delivering the loaded remark. The Greers, given their social status, wouldn’t accept a mentally insane woman as their daughter–in–law.
Winston barked, “Millie!” He was aghast at Millie, who provoked Joanna when she was at her most
