Chapter 372
Millie was willing to pay any price for the butterfly necklace if Winston agreed to sell it to her.
He left the car. “Let’s eat for now.”
She stared at him wordlessly. He peered at her from outside the car. Then, he teased her, “Do you want
the necklace or not?”
Damn it. She hated that the necklace had fallen into his hands. Now, she was subjected to his whims. Her stomach growled from hunger, and she thought getting a free meal out of Winston wouldn’t hurt.
She entered the restaurant and sent Marvin her geolocation. She texted him, “Join us for dinner. A sucker is paying.”
Winston led Millie into a private dining room. All the while, she had been focused on the news, wondering if William might lodge a police report. She decided to hurry back home after dinner for her safety.
“He won’t file a police report. Have your dinner in peace,” Winston said while ordering.
She was caught off guard. How did he read her mind?
Winston quietly checked out the menu and ordered a few of their specialty dishes while Millie continued to study him.
He finally looked up calmly. “What’s wrong?”
She opened her mouth but decided against asking the question. She merely said, “Please order two portions for me.”
She had wanted to ask Winston how he knew William wouldn’t file a police report, but she didn’t want to hear that he was tying up loose ends, as she refused to be involved with him in any way or be indebted to
him.
They were even.
Winston didn’t read deeper into her actions and merely assumed she was really hungry.
Soon, the food was served. Millie, who only had a cup of tea in the afternoon, gobbled up the food after a
day of starving.
Winston asked, “When are you leaving?”
She glanced at him. “I don’t know.”
“You can leave with me,” he suggested.
She smiled. “No, thank you, Mr. Ex–husband.” How awkward would it be if she agreed to his suggestion?
His lips curled into an amused smile. “Are you scared of me?”
“No. You’re overthinking,” she replied calmly. She wasn’t afraid of Winston; she merely refused to be entangled with him.
“Millie,” he called, but she didn’t look at him.
In the past, she would immediately turn to him with bright, sparkly eyes when he called her name. Things

were no longer the same.
He was about to bring up the topic of the necklace when they heard a knock on the door. Millie looked up and saw Marvin.
Marvin went up to Millie with a concerned look. “Boss, you alright?”
She smacked him on the head. “Marvin, what’s the matter? Didn’t you see the bodyguards running after me? You should have come for me!”
“I did… I was right behind him.” Marvin felt helpless. He arrived seconds later than Winston.
