Chapter 61
Dealing with Selma always left Jake feeling at a loss so he could only change the subject and ask, “Is Winston here yet?”
“No, who knows where he’s gone!” Selma replied through gritted teeth.
Jake did not respond while Millie pursed her lips, looking somewhat helpless.
It was clear that Selma did not favor Winston.
After that, Jake clapped, and the butler behind him followed.
“Mrs. Greer Senior, this is a gift from my family. Please accept it!” said Jake.
The present from the Webson family was a meticulously crafted diamond–studded cross pendant. As the gift came into view, it gleamed briefly in the flicker of light, dazzlingly brightly.
“Mrs. Greer Senior, wishing you good health and a long life. May God bless you!” Jake presented the pendant to Selma himself.
Selma could not help but admire it. She even exclaimed that it was a wonderful present. Considering her health issues, this gift meant a lot to her.
“It’s a cross pendant! How nice!” someone in the crowd remarked.
Another added, “The diamond looks extraordinary!”
“But no matter how impressive the diamond is, it can’t outshine the Snowdrop,” one individual commented.
“That’s right! The Snowdrop is tonight’s star! The Lowells are the ultimate winners!”
Upon hearing those words, Joanna twirled her hair, feeling proud from the core of her being.
She could not help but ask, “Is this diamond very valuable?” There was even a hint of disdain in her
tone.
Joanna was not interested in the diamond. Moreover, she believed that her Snowdrop could outshine
everyone.
When it came to gifts, hers had to be the best.
Jake glanced at her, feeling somewhat offended and displeased.
Besides, he had grown up with Winston, and Selma was fond of him.
Given the Websons’ status in Yerwick City, would they present a worthless gift?
Joanna’s comment was clearly provoking the Webson family.
Millie noticed the change in Jake’s expression.
She then said lightly, “Everyone knows that the more brilliant a diamond, the better. It must sparkle to
be considered top–quality. Most importantly, these are hard to come by.”

Since it was rare, it had to be valuable. Despite the cross pendant’s small size, it was worth at least three million dollars.
“The Websons had gone all out for this pendant,” Millie remarked with a faint smile while glancing at
Jake.
She truly exuded the demeanor of the lady of the house.
Jake felt relieved after hearing that. Now, that was someone who could speak eloquently.
In the past, due to Winston’s dislike for Millie, Jake harbored some prejudices against her. But for some reason, he had been inexplicably fond of Millie lately.
On the other hand, Joanna’s expression darkened. Didn’t Millie’s comment imply that she lacked sophistication?
“Mills, Jake, you’ve arrived just in time! Ms. Lowell gave me the world’s only Snowdrop. Shall we take a look together?” Selma gazed at them, extending an invitation.
Jake was astonished. He could not believe the Lowells managed to get their hands on the Snowdrop. It seemed like Joanna had gone to great lengths to marry into the Greer family.
