Chris pulled his car in front of the tall building. It was funny how the week moved so fast that now he was attending his own event. He couldn't help but think that it was just yesterday.

The day that his mum had brought them her wedding present. The day that she insisted on them going for that honeymoon even after he and his wife had given a million excuses.

His wife? That was now making sense to him. It wasn't foreign to him anymore but it wasn't the best. If he thought of it, then it was for revenge and not love. Hate, the hatred that he had vowed to give her all his life.

It was her fault for everything bad that was happening to him. Hers for not being able to be with the love of his life. Hers for not proposing to Kimberly on this very day as he had planned for, for months now.11

It was her fault that he called the line her name and not Kimberly. The name he knew would make his woman say yes the moment he went down on his knee. And it was also her fault for not trying to convince his mum about the honeymoon.6

And for that, he was going to make her pay. He was going to humiliate her in front of the entire world without them noticing anything. It was his revenge tonight and nothing could make him happier than that.2

Chris unfastened his seat belt and walked out of the car. The cameras were flashing on his face the moment he got out of it. He walked to the other side and opened the door for his wife. He saw her smile at his as a way of appreciation.

Chris smiled back since the cameras were focused on them. But he had a secret of his own. A secret that he knew she had no idea off. Not for long. Maya was going to get what she deserved. And that, made his smile grow broader.1

Chris moved his hand to her small back but not before hurting her. Yes, he did it in front of the cameras and he loved what he saw. She was in pain but yet, she smiled at the camera as if everything was okay.

That's how she was taught and he couldn't take it away. After all, she was the governor's daughter and if there were people who knew how to act, it was the politics. And they also made the family to learn how to do it. So he wasn't surprised at Maya's pretence even though he saw the hurt in her eyes.
