Evelyn’s POV
I could feel Orion watching me as we pulled up. April’s words replay in my head. How did she know? Did she know what he did?
“Evelyn, what did April say to you?” Orion asks, leaning between the seats.
“It doesn’t matter, Orion. I just want to go home,” I tell him. Ryland looks over at me. Could feel their worry through the bond.
“Evelyn,” Ryland says but I cut him off.
“Please, can we just go home? I want to go back,” I tell him. Ryland turns the car around going the way we came. I lean against the window wondering what April meant. It scared me knowing she knew what I did. Ryland suddenly pulls over making me look up at him.
“What are you doing?” I ask but he says nothing just hops out and walks into a store before coming out with a bag. He dumps it in my lap, and I place it on the floor between my feet. Ryland starts the car and drives back to Thaddeus’s parents’ house. Pulling up out the front, I get out of the car heading toward the front door when I hear another car pull up. I could see Bianca and Thaddeus sitting in the silver BMW. Thaddeus looks up at his parents’ house shaking his head, and he didn’t look like he wanted to get out.
Walking over I open his door. Ryland and Orion got out closing their car doors making me look back them. Thaddeus still sat in the car.
“Come on, are you going to sit in there all day?” I ask, holding out my hand. He grabs my hand, hopping out before scratching back of his neck. I could feel his nervousness through the bond when suddenly the front door opened. Imogen walked out her face lighting up when she sees him. She runs down the steps before hugging him, relieved he actually came back. Theo and Tobias walk out, and I suddenly feel nervous. The feelings through the bond hitting me hard as I was consumed with Thaddeus’s guilt.
Theo walks off the porch first before walking over and ripping Thaddeus towards him, hugging him tightly before smacking him on the back. “Son,” he says before stepping back, Thaddeus looks towards his other father. Tobias walks down stopping in front of his son and I watch as Thaddeus eyes go straight to the burns on his father’s skin. He swallows and I can feel his sadness at what he done, but his guilt was the worse. His father was alive so I didn’t understand the overwhelming guilt he was feeling. Surely it couldn’t be over his father’s scars.
“Come on let’s go inside,” Tobias tells him, clapping his hand on his sons back. Thaddeus nods following them in, his mother clinging to him. I see Amara walking out of her little home as she skipped over before leaping on Thaddeus back. Orion grabs my hand, tugging me toward the house. I laugh as I watch Amara cling on his back like a monkey before he chucks her off and wraps his arm across her shoulders and puts her in a headlock, messing her hair. She squeals as he drags her up the stairs before he lets her go. Ryland walking up behind then shoves her off the side making her growl at him as she lands in the garden.
“Mutt,” she screeches at him just as Tobias spins around and glares at her.
“Get out of my garden, Amara,” he snaps at her. She dusts herself before stomping inside the house. We walk into the kitchen and I help Imogen make coffee. Thaddeus sits at the island bench next to Bianca. They seem close as he seems comfortable in her presence more so than his parents.
Ryland walks over to Thaddeus wrapping his arms over Thaddeus shoulder before kissing his neck. I smile before turning back to the coffees.
No one says anything and it actually feels awkward as I place coffees in front of everyone before going to sit next to Thaddeus when he pulls me on his lap. His face going into my neck as he inhales my scent.
“I missed you,” he mumbles against my neck. Amara makes kissing faces at us and I roll my eyes at her. Bianca tosses a napkin at her making her stop.
“So, well this awkward,” Amara states. I see Ryland glare at her for stating the obvious. Amara stands up.
“Well, I will start off, then shall I? Some of you may know me as Amara, my favourite colour is yellow, and I am a Gemini, and I have a coffee addiction.” Her father yanks her down, and I can’t help but giggle at her strange attempt of starting a conversation.
Thaddeus snickers at his sister while Imogen just shakes her head.
“Well how about I start dinner?” Imogen suggests, and everyone except me screams no. Making me look around confused before they all burst out laughing. Imogen looked pissed off, her face flushing red in anger. “My cooking isn’t that bad,” she snaps at everyone.
“You would think after hundred years she would have learnt how to cook; the woman can’t even make toast properly,” Tobias says, looking at me. I try not to laugh. Imogen folds her arms across her chest.
“Fine, then you cook?” Imogen snarls at him.
“I vote pizza,” says Amara. Bianca nods her head.
“I will go with Amara; you want to come, Evelyn?” I was going to agree when Thaddeus tells her no, tugging me against him. She sighs before hopping up and Amara follows her out.
Tobias hops up, grabbing a beer from the fridge, offering one to Thaddeus before chucking him one.
“Can werewolves you even get drunk?” I ask, curious.
Imogen nods. “Yes, I can so can Amara and Thaddeus. Them not so much, they just like the taste. It takes a lot for them,” she states. Tobias chucks one to Ryland but Orion shakes his head when offered one.
Imogen grabs a bottle of wine from the cupboard pouring two glasses and handing me one. Tobias eyes her but she shrugs handing me a glass and Thaddeus takes it from me.
“Leave her be, she can’t get in any trouble with all of us here, Thaddeus,” Imogen scolds, and he reluctantly hands it back to me. I sniff it before taking a sip. I scrounge my face up. It tasted dry and sour. Imogen chuckles at reaction.
“It won’t taste like anything after a few more glasses,” she says. “Come on, let’s go watch a movie and let the boys chat.“ She pulls me from Thaddeus.
“Mum?” Thaddeus says, grabbing my hand.
“You need to speak to your fathers, Thaddeus. We are only going out in the loungeroom,” she says, and he lets go.
