When Sydney said "lame move", she accentuated her tone and cast a nonchalant glance at Zach.
Hearing Sydney's words, Zach immediately became nervous. He gave a bitter smile. "Ms. Raines, it's my fault. I shouldn't have said that. I don't know if you arranged that. If I had known it was you, I wouldn't have said that.”
Zach was surprised that Sydney cared so much about his remark, and she remembered what he said.
Zach had said that it was a lame move to cap Dallin with a sack and beat him, but he later said it was brilliant practice and that it taught Dall a lesson.
‘Ms. Raines didn't remember what I said later. She only remembered me saying it was a lame move. She just repeated what I said to mock me... Since Ms. Raines got back with Mr. Flint, she became more and more like him. She's critical of me right now. Mr. Flint is to blame!’
Seeing the wry smile on Zach's face, Sydney chuckled, "Zach, I'm just kidding. Take it easy.”
Zach looked up at the sky.
'Ms. Raines, your joke freaked me out.’
Julien, who was sitting next to Sydney, clearly saw Zach's mood change. Noticing Zach's embarrassed expression, he snorted, "Don't apologize to him." He deserved it. He should pay attention to his speech.”
Zach silently complained, 'Mr. Flint, how can you say that?' I've said a lot of mean things, but you've never criticized me. Now because I was talking about Ms. Raines, your attitude changed. Do you have any principles? I know you're just trying to please Ms. Raines.’
Seeing Zach's sullen face, Sydney changed the subject. She didn't want to upset Zach.
"Zach was right. Although it was a lame move, Dallin got a good kick. I'm very happy about that.” Sydney smiled.
Just then, Zach's phone rang.
Zach checked his cell phone and then said, "Mr. Flint, Ms. Raines, it’s the guy we sent over to keep an eye on Dallin. He should know about Dallin's injuries."
"Answer the phone." Julien lifted his chin.
Sydney also wanted to know how badly Dallin was hurt. She turned her ear to Zach, too.
Zach answered the phone. After a few moments of uh-ohs into the phone, he hangs up the phone. It was no more than a minute.
"Mr. Flint, Ms. Raines, Dallin was taken straight to an emergency room at a private hospital after his assistant found him. He was awfully injured. He's lost two teeth, a broken rib, sprained his right ankle, dislocated his elbow, and his left eye is severely damaged. He'll need to be hospitalized for a month." Zach reported with excitement.
Sydney exclaimed, "Sounds like his injury is terrible."
She had just seen only the injuries on Dallin's face in the picture. She guessed he must have a lot of injuries on his body, too.
But she didn't expect his rib to break. She thought he only had a few scrapes and bruises.
She'd underestimated the viciousness of Yuri's men.
"His injuries were bad, but Dallin had it coming. It wasn't hard enough for him. He should be crippled,"Zach snorted.
Sydney looked at Julien, but didn't see any emotion on his face. She nodded slightly. "You're right."
She didn't feel guilty at all for Dallin's injuries.
Dallin deserved to die for what he'd done.
