“I don’t care,” I replied. When I looked over to where Eric and Camille were standing, I snickered. Since the seats would be a single bed when pushed together, they would likely move during the flight, or else the thirty hours would be excruciatingly long.

Soon after, the plane took off and the attendant came to take our orders. Eric and Camille probably hadn’t eaten anything, as they ordered some food. On the other hand, Jenny did the same thing, but I didn’t. “Give me a glass of water,” he said to the attendant.

“Aren’t you eating, Lily?” Jenny advised: “You should eat something. Yes, airplane food is nothing to write home about, but this one is good.”

“No, I’m not hungry.”

Eric looked at me as I looked outside. It was dark outside and I couldn’t see anything so I started playing games on my phone.

Camille was chatting happily with Eric. “Eric, remember that time we got back?”

“Yes,” he answered calmly.

“I am so happy. I miss Jake a lot. Do you think he forgot about me?”

“He will not go. Dogs have good memories.”

Frustrated, I put on my headphones and closed my eyes as I listened to my music. Even though it drowned out their voices, I still felt uneasy. Why do I feel like they’re childhood friends?

The attendant served the food shortly thereafter. It was sumptuous and the couple seemed to be having a great time eating it. I took a sip of my water before turning back to my music. It didn’t take long for them to finish, so the attendant cleaned it up for them. Realizing I was asleep, Jenny asked the attendant

recline the seat for me.

Even though Jenny was beside me, and even though I had my headphones on, I still couldn’t sleep. I wondered what the couple was doing. Were they sleeping in their seats like us? The question I had popped up again. Camille was a beautiful woman, while Eric was handsome. They were both young, so would they eat under the sheets?
