Dylan was smoldering with rage. His hand shook with anger as he gripped the wine glass.
“Jayden, don’t be mad anymore. I’ll drink to you.” Rose mustered the courage to appease him.
“Hmph, looks like you aren’t completely thick.” Lily felt a sense of satisfaction at the sight of Rose’s silent acquiescence and fear.
She smirked arrogantly, “My boyfriend has a lot of influence over the West District. Just a few days ago, some people were impudent towards my boyfriend. They refused to drink with him as well. Do you want to know what happened to them? They lost both of their legs.”
Rose’s heart trembled with fear. Finally, she picked up her wineglass.
“Oh, that small thing? It’s not even worth speaking of. I remember the year I started out, my comrades and I overtook the territory in…” Jayden reminisced endlessly, his mood brightening with each boastful story. He was engrossed in each retelling of his glory days.
“Honey, you are so awesome! I love you so much!” Lily cooed, her face a picture of worship as she latched – onto his arm.
Jayden and Lily chattered incessantly like a couple of magpies. They were so sickening that even Whitney and Landon wanted to gag.
Man, they sure are shameless!
After a while, Jayden and Lily realized nobody was interested in them. As a matter of fact, Alex was staring at them mockingly. This made the couple furious.
What the hell is giving this live–in son–in–law such guts? How could he not cow after hearing so many violent tales?
“Why aren’t you raising that glass in your hand? Come now, quickly toast my honey,” Lily demanded, her eyes glaring viciously at Rose.
“I–I’ll drink!” Rose stuttered. She could tell Alex was about to face off with Jayden, but she couldn’t take it
anymore.
Her face was deathly pale after hearing Jayden’s vicious boasts about breaking people’s limbs, filled her mind with grotesque scenes.
“With me here, who the hell can force you to drink?” Just as Rose was about to gulp down the wine, Alex swiped the glass from her hand deftly and slammed it on the table.
A mixture of gratitude and terror washed over her.
“Alex, it’s fine. I can handle one or two glasses,” Rose assured hastily.
“Fine. If you love drinking this much, then drink with me,” Alex sneered. He popped the cork off an unopened bottle of wine expertly and shoved it at her.
“Come on then! If you love to drink, we’ll each have a bottle, no need for glasses.” Alex brought out yet another new bottle of wine for himself,
“I–I–I-” Seeing the insult on Alex’s face, how could Rose dare to drink now?

“I’m okay.” Alex glanced at him coolly, before lighting a cigarette and blowing a stream of smoke at him.
“Do you want to die!” Jayden’s face grew ugly with rage.
Rose jolted with fear. This was the first time she witnessed a full–grown man in a fit of rage.
“Honey, this useless scumbag is much too insolent! Teach him a lesson, will you? I’m so sick of his arrogance,” Lily urged, a gleam of hostility in her eyes.
Alex was cocky, even though he was just a live–in son–in–law who lived off of a woman. Just for that, she wanted Jayden to beat him up until his pretty face became unrecognizable.
