Speed Candles novel Chapter 20

Norah’s words made Emily taken by surprise. She had made many efforts to investigate everything about the Clark family and even their ancestors.

But Emily heard nothing about the fact that Sebastian was an illegitimate child.

Emily was scared out of her wits.

“I know what you want to ask. Sebastian is a child of my blood.”

She suddenly had a bold and arrogant conjecture that Norah had already been pregnant before she married into the Clark family, just like her now.

Emily moved her legs which had been insensible. Then she feigned to ask unconcernedly, “Since we have suffered mutual sympathy, Mrs. Clark, why don’t you help me now…”

She still wanted to say something else, but Norah stopped her, and then said arrogantly, “Miss Morris, I think you misunderstood me. The reason why I told you that is to let you give up before the impossible, not to let you keep doing this.”

“Sebastian has always taken his identity to heart. Of course, he also knows that I made use of disgraceful means to marry into the Clark family back then. He will never allow his child to be the same too.”

Norah’s tone was not polite at all. Her eyes were full of contempt and arrogance when she spoke.

When Emily first met her, she only felt that she was quite different from normal women. But now, she even thought this woman was perfect.

A woman who could uncover her most painful memories was not likely to care about her little tricks. She knew very well what Emily was planning to do.

Norah glanced at her. She sneered and took out a check from her handbag, and then said impatiently, “I believe Sebastian has given you one chance, but you didn’t take that. You thought yourself clever and I was good-natured, so you could turn the tables, but you didn’t expect me to turn the cold shoulder to you.”

The rich and influential Clark family would give her a lot of money. Emily picked up the thin check to take a look, and then put it down. She hadn’t added the number on it yet.

“Mrs. Clark is really generous.” She stopped and smiled.

Now the whole C City knew that she was a murderer, and had been in the prison for two years. Everyone looked down on her.

If she couldn’t prove she was innocent, her father couldn’t die in peace. Then she could only disguise herself, have the jitters all day and live without dignity until her old age.

“Miss Morris, think it over. Going abroad with the money is much happier than marring into the Clark family.” After saying that to her, Norah gently pushed the check on the table in front of her, and got up to leave.

When she passed by Emily, she glanced at her and warned her, “Moreover, the Clark family won’t accept a murderer. Do you think it’s very proud to ruin your sister’s marriage?”

“Mrs. Clark, you have the right to prevent me from marrying into the Clark family, but please don’t judge me according to those gossips.”

Norah didn’t expect Emily to talk to her like this. She was not angry, “Whether you are innocent or guilty, it’s impossible for you to enter the Clark family.”

She suppressed the bitterness in her heart, and remained obedient on the surface. Then she asked in a roundabout way, “Did he hate you?”

“Of course. Everyone wants to live a decent life.”

What Norah said was concise and comprehensive.

In the meeting room at Seaview Properties.

Sebastian had just finished a three-hour emergency meeting. Hope waited outside for more than an hour, and then came in when everyone was out.

“Mr. Clark, Miss Morris went to meet Mrs. Clark. When Mrs. Clark came out, she didn’t look well.”
